As the wagon came to a halt outside the majestic royal palace of Valaskjalf, Captain Ragna was the first to step out, offering his hand to assist me.
I accepted his gesture gratefully, my fingers trembling slightly as I placed my hand in his.
Glancing at the guards standing vigilantly outside the palace gates, I couldn't help but comment on their presence.
"Quite the security detail everywhere I go." I remarked, my voice tinged with uncertainty.
Captain Ragna offered a brief nod in response, his expression unreadable.
"You'll need to get used to being surrounded by guards from now on." he replied matter-of-factly, his tone carrying a hint of warning.
As we made their way through the grand halls of the palace, we walked in silence. Once we arrived at the front of Odin's throne room, Captain Ragna knocked three times on the door before pushing it open.
I watched in silent admiration as he effortlessly opened the heavy doors, a feat I could only achieve with the power of the staff.
Before parting ways, Captain Ragna leaned in close, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I'll be waiting for you outside." he reassured me, his eyes reflecting a mixture of concern and determination.
I felt a surge of fear at the prospect of facing Odin alone, my heart began pounding harder in my chest. But I knew I couldn't let my nerves get the best of me. Steeling myself with a deep breath.
You need to be courageous, Y/n.
I stepped inside the throne room and as I approached the edge of Odin's imposing throne, I heard the door close behind me, the sound echoing through the silent chamber.
The hairs on the back of my neck prickled with nervous anticipation as I bowed respectfully before Odin, my heart still pounding in my chest.
After a few seconds of silence, Odin commanded, "Stand." his voice echoing through the chamber.
I obeyed, meeting his gaze with a mix of curiosity and apprehension.
My eyes drifted to the two birds, Hugin and Munin, perched on Odin's shoulders. It struck me that these were the same birds who had been squawking loudly yesterday, adding to my already bewildering experience.
Odin commented, "I see that you had a swift recovery."
"Indeed. I suppose I have my lineage to thank for that." I quipped, trying to lighten the mood.
He said nothing in response to my comment.
He began "According to my forefathers, the Yggdrasil Healers were not merely individuals with extraordinary powers; they are embodiments of the cosmic balance and the sacred bond between the natural world and the divine."
I listened intently, absorbing every word, though a nagging question burned at the back of my mind. Finally, I couldn't hold it in any longer.
"May I ask you a question, Allfather?" I inquired respectfully.
Odin nodded, a silent signal for me to proceed.
"Were the Yggdrasil Healers Gods?" I asked, my voice steady despite the uncertainty swirling within me.
Odin's response was blunt as he declared, "They were demigods, and so are you."
At this revelation, Hugin and Munin spread their wings, their sharp eyes fixing on me.
But I maintained a neutral expression, despite the tumult of emotions roiling inside me.
Noticing my composure, Odin remarked, "You seem unfazed by this revelation despite the fact that only a select few of the Gods knew of this secret."
