POV:

Jungkook leaned back, watching Taehyung from across the room. Taehyung had always been quiet, but this silence felt different-heavier, almost like Taehyung was withdrawing into himself more and more each day. Jungkook couldn't quite shake it. That light Taehyung used to carry, the soft smiles and warmth he'd share so effortlessly, seemed to be slipping away.

His friends laughed, one of them tossing a careless taunt Taehyung's way. "Come on, Tae, don't be so uptight," one smirked. "Acting all pure like you're some angel or something."

Jungkook chuckled along, trying to brush it off as harmless. He watched Taehyung flinch slightly, and for a moment, guilt flared up inside him. But he quickly dismissed it. Taehyung was just sensitive; he always was, right?

Still, something gnawed at him. A strange, twisted feeling in his chest he couldn't ignore. The urge to do something-anything-to bring back the old Taehyung tugged at him. Then, an idea crossed his mind: they hadn't had a best-friend hangout in a while. Maybe he could take Taehyung out for a movie or get ice cream, like they used to. Jungkook's heart felt a little lighter with the thought, a small plan to remind Taehyung he still cared, even if they'd drifted apart a bit.

He pulled out his phone, sending Taehyung a quick message:

"Wanna hang out tomorrow?just the two of us !Let's have an old-school movie night, my treat."

After a pause, his phone lit up with Taehyung's reply. The simple

"yeah, I'd like that :)"

brought warmth to Jungkook's heart. He didn't think much of it, but the idea of spending time with Taehyung, just the two of them, felt oddly...right. Maybe this was exactly what they both needed.

The next day, Taehyung was at the theater early, his heart racing in anticipation. He hadn't seen Jungkook like that in ages-kind, thoughtful, even excited to spend time with him. It was a tiny spark, but it was enough to lift his spirits, a reminder of the friendship he thought he was losing.

But minutes ticked by, and Jungkook was nowhere to be seen. Taehyung checked his phone, scrolling through his messages, each one unanswered. An hour passed, and Taehyung felt a familiar ache settle in his chest. He should've known better.

Meanwhile, Jungkook was at a party across town, his bad-boy friends urging him to stay longer. He had half a mind to leave and meet Taehyung, but every time he checked the time, someone would hand him another drink or convince him to stay. "It's just one hangout," he reasoned, "Tae'll be fine." His heart twisted in discomfort, but he pushed it down. Taehyung was used to waiting.

A/n pov:

Taehyung glanced at his phone for what felt like the hundredth time, watching the minutes stretch into hours as he waited. The movie was long over, and the bustling theater had emptied. Yet, he stayed-hopeful, stubborn. He'll be here, he told himself, clutching his phone tightly in one hand and trying to ignore the ache in his chest. The sky outside had long darkened, the streets quieting as midnight neared. The world around him seemed to move on, but Taehyung stood still, waiting. Waiting for a friend who had already left him behind.

As the clock neared 12 a.m., the theater's last staff member gave him a sympathetic look.
"You should probably head home, you're here since 6pm ,it's been 6 hours, i don't know who ditched you like this but- aish kids nowadays"
she murmured, locking the front doors. Taehyung forced a smile, nodding, swallowing the bitter taste of disappointment.

He left, stepping into the thick sheets of rain pouring from the dark sky. His clothes quickly soaked, but he didn't care. Every raindrop, cold and unyielding against his skin, only echoed the emptiness he felt inside. But still, beneath it all, his heart clung to the love he held for Jungkook, an unbreakable thread that wouldn't let him let go.

He must have had a reason, Taehyung reasoned with himself as he walked through the empty streets, each step heavy. Maybe he got held up...or something came up, he thought, forcing down the lump rising in his throat.

Hours earlier, he'd replayed Jungkook's message over and over, his face lighting up each time he read, "Just us. Let's have an old-school movie night." It was so simple, yet it had filled Taehyung with so much joy-a glimmer of hope in the middle of the storm of distance that had slowly, painfully wedged itself between them.

When he reached his house, he fumbled for his keys, his hands numb from the cold rain. But the moment he stepped inside, the weight of it all crushed him. Dropping his wet jacket by the door, he let out a shaky breath, his heart aching with the pain he'd been trying to hold back all night.

Why did I wait so long? he thought, feeling foolish, drenched in both rain and regret. He'd waited for six hours-for a friend who seemed to be slipping further away with every passing day.

But even in that pain, he couldn't help the way his heart held onto Jungkook. No matter how many times he was let down, there was a part of him that believed, This time will be different. This time, he'll be there. It was an unshakable love, a selfless kind of love, the kind that overlooked the hurt just to see the person he cherished happy.

He walked to his room, the silence of the house amplifying every raw, aching thought running through his mind. And as he sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his phone, he whispered to himself, "I'll keep waiting, Kook
