POV:
The moment Taehyung entered the university, it was different. The usual noise, the chatter, the bustle-today, it felt like something was suffocating the air around him. The silence was heavy, like the calm before a storm.
He felt the unease crawl up his spine, but he ignored it, forcing himself to move forward. But as soon as he stepped inside the classroom, everything shattered.
A bucket of cold, foul-smelling water hit him square in the chest, soaking his clothes in seconds. The shock, the cold, the humiliation-it all hit him at once. His body froze, but his mind was on fire.
Laughter. Mocking.
"Look at the freak," one of Jungkook's friends sneered, the words cutting through him like a blade. "Thought you could hide it, huh?"
"Pathetic," another voice chimed in. "You're just a joke."
Taehyung stood there, paralyzed, as their laughter echoed in his ears. His heart pounded, his face burning with shame. His body trembled, but he refused to let them see him break. He couldn't show them the tears that were threatening to spill.
His eyes moved to the back of the classroom. Jungkook.
Jungkook was standing there, arms crossed, watching him. His face was unreadable, but Taehyung could feel the weight of his gaze. It felt like an invisible punch to the gut. Jungkook didn't say anything. He didn't stop them.
Taehyung's breath hitched, and for a moment, time seemed to freeze. The world around him blurred. The laughter, the mockery-it all became distant, muffled, as his heart sank deeper into the pit of despair.
He had imagined this day a thousand times. But now that it was real, it hurt more than anything he could have ever expected.
Why?
The question burned in his mind, over and over. Why did he let this happen? Why didn't he stop them?
But Taehyung already knew the answer. It didn't matter how much he begged for Jungkook to stop. He never would. He was just another person in the crowd. Another face in the sea of people who looked at Taehyung like he was less than human.
The water dripped off him, but he couldn't move. He couldn't speak. His body was frozen, but his mind was screaming. He wanted to run. He wanted to disappear. To just escape from the suffocating pressure of it all.
This is who you are, Taehyung.
This is who you've always been.
Just a mistake. Just something to laugh at.
He felt the tears rise in his eyes, but he blinked them away. No. Don't let them see you cry. Don't give them that satisfaction.
But it was too late. The words were already in his head. The damage had already been done.
