Title: Chaos, Kids, and a Kiss

---

You had agreed to babysit Ellie as a favor to April and Casey, who both swore she was "a little angel." That was a blatant lie, as you quickly discovered within minutes of arriving at Casey’s apartment. Ellie, the five-year-old whirlwind of chaos, was bouncing off the walls with enough energy to fuel a small city.

Casey, of course, left before you could protest further, grinning like he had pulled off the heist of the century.

Leo, who had accompanied you as an offer of help, stood by the door awkwardly, holding a bag of supplies April had left behind. “You’re sure you’re up for this?” he asked, already sensing the mischief brewing in Ellie’s mischievous gaze.

“Totally,” you replied with forced confidence. “How hard can babysitting be?”

---

The Beginning of Chaos

Ellie’s innocent smile was deceptive. Within the first thirty minutes, she managed to knock over a potted plant, draw on the wall with crayons, and convince you she needed "ten scoops" of ice cream.

Leo’s attempts to help only seemed to egg her on. “Leo, catch me!” she screamed, launching herself off the couch like a mini daredevil.

“Ellie, no!” he panicked, barely catching her mid-air. She giggled maniacally, clearly proud of her stunt.

You rubbed your temples, trying to keep calm. “Ellie, we talked about safety, remember? No jumping off furniture.”

“Yes, Mom,” she said sweetly, before winking at Leo.

He froze, his blue eyes widening. “Uh… I think she’s calling you—”

“I know,” you interrupted, already feeling your cheeks heat up. “Ellie, I’m not your mom.”

She shrugged. “You act like one.”

Teamwork... or Lack Thereof

As the hours dragged on, Ellie’s antics only escalated. She had an uncanny knack for stirring up trouble, like pouring glitter all over the living room (“It’s snowing!” she cried) or locking the two of you out on the balcony while she raided the cookie jar.

“I told you babysitting would be harder than it looked,” Leo said as he tried to pick the lock on the balcony door.

“You’re not helping,” you muttered, watching through the glass as Ellie happily stuffed cookies into her mouth.

When you finally got back inside, Ellie greeted you with a suspiciously sweet smile. “Welcome back, Mom and Dad.”

This time, Leo choked on air. “What?!”

You sighed, trying to maintain your composure. “Ellie, stop saying that.”

“Why? You’re always taking care of me, and Leo’s here too. Isn’t that what parents do?”

Leo cleared his throat, obviously flustered. “We’re just babysitting you, Ellie. That’s all.”

But she wasn’t buying it. “Uh-huh. Sure, Dad.”

You both groaned in unison as she skipped off to create more chaos.

Mischievous Matchmakers

By mid-afternoon, you and Leo had somehow managed to corral Ellie into the living room with a movie and snacks. For a moment, it seemed like peace might finally be possible.
