Taehyung stopped a few feet away, his gaze locking with Jungkook's. "As long as it's not something that jeopardizes the campaign—or causes trouble for either of us—I won't say a word." His voice was steady, a quiet assurance laced with a subtle challenge. "I'm not here to lie to you, Jungkook."

The words hung in the air, and for a brief moment, Jungkook faltered. There was something in the way Taehyung spoke—firm and unyielding—that made him feel like, maybe, he could trust him. Still, Jungkook wasn't about to admit it aloud.

"Fine," Jungkook muttered, narrowing his eyes slightly. "But if you start acting like my dad's little spy, we're going to have a problem."

Taehyung grinned, the corner of his lips tugging up just enough to be infuriatingly attractive. "Noted. Now, lead the way. I'm coming with you."

Jungkook rolled his eyes, brushing past Taehyung intentionally. "You're so damn annoying."

"Glad to know I'm consistent," Taehyung replied, his tone amused as he followed. His eyes lingered briefly on Jungkook's retreating figure before shaking his head with a faint, unreadable expression.

As Jungkook stepped outside, his gaze flickered to the cluster of guards standing on standby near the driveway. They were statuesque in their professionalism, but to Jungkook, they were little more than a swarm of eyes and ears for his father. He turned to Taehyung, arching a brow.

"Are they all coming too?" he asked, his tone laced with exaggerated annoyance.

Taehyung's response was cool, almost indifferent. "Would that be a problem?"

Jungkook snorted, his eyes narrowing with an edge of mistrust. "I might trust you, but I'll never trust them not to snitch to my father. Besides..." He sneered, clearly enjoying the challenge. "Isn't that what you're here for, Captain? Shouldn't you be able to protect one person all alone? Heard you guys can take down ten people at once."

Taehyung raised a brow, his expression unreadable but his jaw tightening ever so slightly. Jungkook's words always had a way of finding the perfect pressure points. He let out a short scoff, refusing to rise fully to the bait. "Fine. Let's go alone," Taehyung replied, taking the keys from the driver.

But just as he walked past, Jungkook's hand darted out, snatching the keys with an effortless swipe. "Actually," Jungkook said, spinning the keys around his finger with a mischievous grin, "I'm driving."

Taehyung gave him a flat look. "That's not—"

"Too late!" Jungkook interrupted, already striding to the driver's seat. He slid in with a flair, tossing a smug glance at Taehyung.

Taehyung sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. With a resigned roll of his eyes, he opened the passenger door and sat down. "Don't make me regret this," he muttered, pulling on his seatbelt.

Once settled, Taehyung fastened his seatbelt and glanced over at Jungkook. But the younger man wasn't even looking at him—his attention was on the rearview mirror. Jungkook smirked, his hands moving to the gear stick, and his eyes briefly met Taehyung's, his expression playful and dangerous.

"We can trust each other..." Jungkook said, letting the sentence hang for a moment, the words dripping with something unspoken. "But the question is... should we?"

Taehyung barely had time to process the remark—or the teasing glint in Jungkook's eye— before Jungkook's foot hit the gas, and with a wicked grin, he sped off. The tires screeched as the car lurched forward, the sound almost deafening in the quiet night. Taehyung grabbed onto the lever above the passenger seat, his breath catching in his chest as Jungkook took the curves with reckless abandon.
