The classroom buzzed with quiet chatter, the hum of conversation settling into the background as students found their seats and prepared for the day. The air was thick with the usual dull anticipation of a lecture, punctuated only by the soft shuffle of papers and the occasional cough. Jayce Talis leaned back in his chair, arms crossed behind his head, half-listening to his teacher drone on and on about circuitry. His mind was elsewhere, drifting to his latest project, an energy amplifier for his prototype Hextech core. The idea had consumed him for weeks, and now, his notebook, was covered in half-finished sketches and hasty notes, scribbled out in the margins. He had signed every page of his notes, a little egotistical, don't you think? He was too deep into his thoughts to truly engage with the lesson.

His eyes wandered over the pages, tracing the lines of the design, lost in the potential of what he could create. The lecture continued in the background, but it had become nothing more than white noise to him.

Suddenly, the door creaked open, its sound cutting through the monotony of the lecture. Heads turned as a figure stepped in, and for a moment, the chatter died down. A boy stood in the doorway, his thin frame silhouetted by the sunlight streaming through the windows. He seemed hesitant, almost unsure, clutching a worn notebook to his chest like a shield. His presence brought a small shift in the energy of the room, and Jayce felt a flicker of curiosity stir within him.

The teacher, momentarily distracted from his lecture, gestured for the new student to introduce himself.

"I'm Viktor," the boy said, his voice soft, his accent curling around the words in a way that sounded unfamiliar to Jayce. His eyes scanned the room briefly, lingering on Jayce's open notebook and the sketches scattered across the page, before quickly retreating to the floor.

Jayce, now more intrigued, sat up a little straighter in his seat, a spark of interest lighting in his chest. Something about the newcomer, his quiet demeanor, and the way he glanced at the sketches made Jayce's curiosity grow. He had to know more. Viktor didn't seem like the kind of person to speak up or make a big impression, but there was something in the way he held himself, reserved, yet clearly observant.
Now that tugged at Jayce's attention.

Viktor walked toward the only available seat, which just happened to be right next to Jayce. As he sat down, their shoulders brushed briefly, and Jayce couldn't help but notice the faint nervousness in Viktor's posture, as though he was unsure of how to navigate the space around him.

For a moment, there was silence, the only sound was the teacher's voice continuing in the background. Jayce, his curiosity now fully sparked, glanced sideways at Viktor, wondering who this quiet stranger was and what had brought him to the class. Something told him that Viktor wasn't just another student, there was more to him, something that Jayce couldn't quite place but felt instinctively.

Without fully thinking, Jayce shifted in his seat, turning slightly to get a better look at Viktor. The classroom buzzed around them, but for a brief moment, it felt as if everything had narrowed down to just the two of them.
