After finishing their coffee and pastries, they decided to take a stroll through the nearby park. The weather was perfect, mild with a soft breeze that rustled the leaves of the trees above them. Viktor walked with his hands tucked deep in his pockets, his steps slow and measured, as though he was lost in his thoughts. Jayce, on the other hand, had a more carefree air about him, his strides quicker, and he found himself glancing at Viktor every so often. His fingers itched to do something, so he occasionally bumped their shoulders together in an attempt to break through Viktor's usual air of calm.
"You know," Jayce said after a moment, glancing at Viktor with a teasing grin, "I think I've spent more time with you in the past few weeks than anyone else."
Viktor raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a small, amused smile. "And yet you still haven't grown tired of me?" he replied, his voice as dry as ever, though there was a hint of playfulness behind the words.
Jayce stopped walking and turned to face him, his gaze serious for a moment. "Tired of you? Never. You're the best part of my day, Vik." His words were soft but sincere, a rare vulnerability in his voice that caught Viktor off guard.
Viktor's breath caught slightly, and he looked away, his face heating up. He shifted uncomfortably on his feet, his usual guard slipping just for a second. "You're insufferable," he muttered, trying to hide the blush creeping up his neck.
Jayce watched Viktor's reaction with a fond smile, unable to stop himself from teasing just a little bit more. "And you like it," he said, his grin widening as he sidestepped Viktor and fell back into step beside him.
Viktor rolled his eyes, though there was a glimmer of amusement in them. They walked in silence for a few moments, the sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling filling the air. It felt comfortable, like they didn't need to say anything more, just enjoying each other's company.
Jayce glanced over at Viktor again, the corners of his lips curling into a smile. "You know, I think I could get used to this," he said lightly. "Just... walking around with you. No pressure, no expectations."
Viktor glanced at him, surprised by the honesty in Jayce's words. "I suppose I could too," he admitted, his voice quieter now, as if the moment had somehow settled between them.
As they continued their walk through the park, the weight of the world seemed to lighten just a little, and for once, Viktor didn't mind the pace, slow and steady, just like the quiet connection that had grown between them.
