Su Min’s current relaxation would undoubtedly affect her future development.
“Captain, have you considered this decision carefully?”
Bai Yuxi looked at her with a serious expression.
Hearing Bai Yuxi call her ‘Captain’ with such a concerned look made Su Min feel a sudden sense of relief.
Their interests were different, and they often discussed their future directions together. In the past, when Su Min expressed her thoughts, Bai Yuxi always listened intently. Knowing that she had changed her path, Bai Yuxi’s momentary display of emotion reassured her.
Over five years, they had indeed built something meaningful between them.
—Bai Yuxi still cares about me…
Su Min nodded. “I’ve thought it through.”
This process had taken her a long time and would sacrifice some of her future opportunities, but for Bai Yuxi to look at her with even a hint of emotion, Su Min felt no regret at all.
She swallowed hard and stepped closer to Bai Yuxi.
“Yuxi, I know you haven’t told Brigadier General Bai yet.”
Su Min said, lowering her gaze. “You actually—”
“Captain.”
Bai Yuxi interrupted her, her tone stern.
“I haven’t told the Brigadier General simply because she’s currently unwell. Once her health improves, I will inform her.”
Bai Yuxi’s voice was as rational as cold water splashing onto Su Min’s face.
“Your choices are your own, and you’ll bear the consequences. I just want to remind you to be cautious. If you’ve made a decision, then you need to see it through to the end and not give up halfway.”
Su Min found herself lost for words.
This statement truly reflected Bai Yuxi’s character. She never liked to explain her actions, but regardless of the situation, she always strived to do her best.
Yet because of this, Su Min felt even more reluctant to give her up. At this moment, she realized how much she needed Bai Yuxi.
Feeling regretful, Su Min took a step forward to stop Bai Yuxi.
“Then can we at least greet each other from time to time in the future?”
Bai Yuxi opened her mouth to refuse, but Su Min quickly added:
“We’ll see each other so often at school. It would be nice to acknowledge each other, right?”
Bai Yuxi fell silent. Su Min’s actions were her own business, and she had no right to interfere.
“Exchanging greetings is your right as a Captain.”
Su Min’s throat moved slightly.
—That would be good enough.
She wanted to say more, but then she noticed Bai Yuxi’s fingers quickly pressing several keys on her terminal. Less than a minute later, her own terminal buzzed.
The notification read: Bai Yuxi.
Su Min picked up her terminal nervously, thinking Bai Yuxi might have sent her a message, only to find that it was a notification saying, “Bai Yuxi’s transfer has been credited.”
“Yuxi, this—”
Su Min looked at the money Bai Yuxi had sent her and immediately wanted to say, ‘there’s no need for that,’ but after glancing at the amount, she swallowed hard and changed her tone.
“Did you transfer too much?”
“I heard you sent a gift to the Brigadier General a few days ago.”
Bai Yuxi’s tone was calm, but to Su Min, it felt like an interrogation.
Su Min suddenly felt embarrassed. “That was just a gesture of my feelings. You didn’t have to give me anything in return.”
Bai Yuxi ignored her. “I didn’t mean to put you out, but I calculated it, and this is the total.”
“You really didn’t need to.”
Su Min didn’t care about the money; what concerned her was how Bai Yuxi viewed her.
She thought that if Bai Yuxi felt even a slight fondness for her over such matters, that would be good. But she didn’t expect Bai Yuxi wouldn’t even give her that opportunity.
“I’m not being polite, but I hope the captain won’t do this again. It complicates things.”
Bai Yuxi looked at her seriously.
Su Min was momentarily at a loss for words, suppressing her emotions for a long time before managing to control her expression.
“Okay, I won’t do it again.” She nodded.
Bai Yuxi didn’t say much more and put away her terminal.
“I have things to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”
With that, Bai Yuxi turned and walked away without looking back.
