Bai Yuxi felt warmth radiating from Ren Qingqiu as she leaned against her.
“Why the silence? I still want to hear you talk.”
Ren Qingqiu looked at her serious expression and smiled brightly. She felt moved and wished Bai Yuxi would share more thoughts, even if it was just idle chatter.
“Commander, what’s on your mind?”
Bai Yuxi took a deep breath, her expression still icy. “I’m thinking that you can also be bullied. Aren’t you always proclaiming your capabilities?”
“Hmm, I am quite capable.”
Ren Qingqiu couldn’t help but chuckle. “But even the most powerful can be victimized.”
“I’ve never been bullied,” Bai Yuxi replied, chin held high defiantly.
“Commander,” Ren Qingqiu smirked at her imposing demeanor, “you once had your hair tie snatched by me when we were kids.”
“That was just competition. I never felt like I lost to you.”
“Okay,” Ren Qingqiu laughed lightly, gently squeezing Bai Yuxi’s hand. “But humans are social creatures. Living among others means facing all sorts of situations. Just being hit with a stick or a fist doesn’t automatically equate to being bullied.”
“There’s physical violence and then there’s emotional violence.”
“Using force without reason to undermine someone’s core is wrong. In some situations, no matter how strong you are, you can’t escape it…”
“Even if you are incredibly powerful.”
Bai Yuxi listened in silence.
Seeing her expression, Ren Qingqiu smiled. “For instance, Commander, you’re strong, yet one day a student at the academy might come to school with bruises, claiming you hit her. Suddenly, rumors would circulate that you bullied this student.”
“You truly can imagine such scenarios; then, all your former friends and acquaintances would look at you with disbelief, and no one would want to engage with you, fearing you. Whatever you say, they won’t believe you.”
“That’s a form of bullying too.”
Bai Yuxi paused, then casually lifted her head. “I can manage on my own. Let them talk.”
“Why should I care about those people? They lack discernment, and I’m not on the same level as those judgment-free fools.”
Ren Qingqiu suddenly burst into laughter at her words. She leaned closer to Bai Yuxi’s ear and kissed her neck. “You’re tougher than I am.”
Bai Yuxi felt a ticklish sensation from Ren Qingqiu’s laughter, instinctively reaching out to pat her head.
She didn’t know why she did it; perhaps because Ren Qingqiu often did the same to her, and she had unconsciously picked up the habit.
However, Ren Qingqiu found it amusing when Bai Yuxi patted her head.
It seemed that large felines actually enjoyed having their heads patted.
Bai Yuxi rubbed her head a couple of times before stopping, looking at Ren Qingqiu seriously. “We should go; you haven’t eaten yet.”
The rare moment of comfort from the large feline dissipated quickly.
Ren Qingqiu felt a bit regretful.
After dining at a restaurant recommended by students from the Southern Military Academy, the two returned to their dormitory.
