On the afternoon of the second day, students from various schools convened at the meeting point, eager for the fourth round of the competition.
The Northern Military Academy’s location setter was Colonel Luo Dingsong, commander of the Northern Land Combat Forces.
His entrance silenced the crowd immediately.
His uniform, shirt, and hat were worn and tattered, suggesting years of use, yet they exuded an almost obsessive cleanliness.
Despite being only thirty-five years old, the deep scar across his face made him appear much older.
The crowd struggled to assess his character; even Bai Yuxi and Ren Qingqiu had only a limited grasp of his nature.
Compared to previous location setters, his presence was far more intimidating. Just watching him step onto the podium sent many students into a cold sweat.
“I dislike lengthy introductions. Those who wish to know me will do so naturally; those who don’t need not concern themselves,” Colonel Luo said casually, glancing over the documents in his hand.
His voice, though soft, bore a penetrating quality that commanded attention. “The destination for this match is the Urisas Outpost, located at the center of Lakes Mountain Peak.”
The other students, aside from those from the Northern Military Academy, were left speechless.
While all schools assumed the Northern Military Academy would choose a snowy location, no one expected the competition venue to be the cliffside snow mountain right at the entrance of their school.
“This outpost was once a challenging place to survive due to its location, yet our Northern Military has always been stationed here to protect it. Though the need for guarding this outpost has diminished, we continue to honor its significance by replacing the flag here every week with a spotless national flag.”
“The objective of this competition is to be the first to reach the outpost and replace the old flag with a new one. That team will earn five points, with additional points awarded based on the number of team members, one point for each person.”
“Now, you may begin.”
The teams started preparing as the students were blindfolded and transported to various locations in the Lakes Mountains.
Since the Northern Military Academy was at the foot of the mountains, each academy’s vehicle reached its assigned starting point in under an hour.
The cliffside snow mountain of Lakes was a name familiar to all, even those outside the Northern Military Academy or reconnaissance troops; it was a lesson every military academy student had to learn.
Nestled in the continuous mountain range of Lakes, the Northern stronghold stood like a perilous gate between two mountains, integrated with perennial snow.
This stronghold evolved from an outpost.
That outpost is the Urisas Outpost mentioned in the match.
In winter, temperatures at the Urisas Outpost can plummet below minus fifty degrees.
There once was no electricity, firepower, or food, and accessing water was a challenge. Under such conditions, Northern Military soldiers built fortifications, dug trenches, and constructed barracks to defend Lakas. This outpost forms both the foundation of the Northern Military and the origin of Lakas.
Designating this place as the competition venue carries significant commemorative value.
The vehicles smoothly delivered the Northern Military Academy students to their starting point, a pristine, snow-covered forest that had recently received heavy snowfall, with snow nearly reaching waist height.
