In January, the league wrapped up, and Song Zhixian returned north to continue coaching Bai Mubei. One evening, during class, Bai Mubei suddenly asked, "Song Zhixian, do you think we’re dating now?"

Caught off guard by the question, Song Zhixian tightened her grip on the pen in her hand, causing it to snap.

It had been nearly a month since Bai Mubei had last made a bold remark about clinging to her. Reflecting on the past few days, Song Zhixian realized her patience had been unusually high—perhaps too high—which might have led Bai Mubei to believe she was easy to manage.

It was time to set things straight.

Despite having warned Bai Mubei countless times to think about the consequences, it seemed she hadn’t considered them at all. Where had her head been all this time?

Once she regained her composure, Song Zhixian shut the book with a thud.

"Bai Mubei, what do you think our relationship looks like right now?"

Bai Mubei sensed a sudden shift in Song Zhixian’s demeanor, realizing she had struck a nerve. Silently, she rose from her chair and nervously replied, "We’re dating."

After glancing at Song Zhixian, she was taken aback by the cold expression on her face, sending a chill down her spine.

Thinking she had upset Song Zhixian by mentioning their relationship, Bai Mubei quickly amended her statement. "Then I’m your student."

"Bai Mubei," Song Zhixian chuckled lightly, "your training doubles tonight."

Bai Mubei protested, feeling it was unfair. "But I already finished my training today!"

Song Zhixian stared at her in silence for a long moment.

Bai Mubei’s cheeks flushed with anger. She prided herself on her resolve and wasn’t intimidated by Song Zhixian’s punishments. With a huff, she stormed off to train.

After finishing her training, Bai Mubei lay on the ground, her eyes sparkling with exhaustion. She looked over at Song Zhixian, who had been standing there quietly for quite a while, and extended her hand. "Song Zhixian, help me up."

Song Zhixian didn’t budge.

"Song Zhixian," she pouted, "I’m upset now."

"Oh." Song Zhixian replied nonchalantly, showing no signs of sympathy.

Bai Mubei felt playful. "Is it really too much to ask for you to help me up?"

With a sigh, Song Zhixian finally reached back and pulled her up slowly, gently patting the dust off Bai Mubei's back. "Do you understand your mistake now?"

"Did I do anything wrong? Do you think I have no responsibility here? If you didn’t clarify things, who can you blame?"

Bai Mubei, exhausted from the intense training that night, felt frustrated by Song Zhixian's punishment.

"I think you should share some blame too! You’ve never said we’re dating!" Bai Mubei grumbled. "Is it wrong to ask for clarification?"

Song Zhixian remained silent for a long while, then coldly remarked, "So you think you can just cling to me without defining our relationship? Bai Mubei, your thinking is quite modern. Should I get you a contemporary art award for that?"

Bai Mubei blushed, realizing the implications of Song Zhixian's words. "You know that’s not what I meant! I just feel that dating is something two people who like each other should do. How can I be sure you like me? If you don’t, won’t you be mad if I say something?"
