The man stared incredulously at the two figures before him and took a deep breath.

He never expected that their pursuers would be so young—almost like students.

Yet, he witnessed the earlier events firsthand.

He truly couldn’t comprehend how they had managed to subdue all four of them in such a brief moment. As an experienced soldier, having navigated numerous situations, he noted that the demeanor of these two did not resemble that of students at all.

However, he was certain that his only means of escape now was to disregard the others and forcefully break through using the hostage.

With this thought, he cast a cold glance at the gun that had skidded to the ground nearby.

“Bang!”

Another gunshot rang out.

A bullet from Ren Qingqiu struck the gun lying just out of reach.

Meanwhile, Jing Zhuo, who had finally shaken off his dizziness, sprang to his feet and seized the man’s arm from behind.

Jing Zhuo’s reaction was swift; he tore off his tie and bound the man’s hands with it. Though not skilled in combat, he knew how to tie knots.

Ren Qingqiu aimed her gun at the man, demanding, “Tell me, why did you kidnap this person?”

The man frowned at her, remaining silent.

He said nothing, still searching for an opportunity to escape.

With no vehicle to aid their getaway, he just needed to find a chance.

Seeing his silence, Ren Qingqiu turned to Bai Yuxi, saying, “Commander, he’s not talking.”

Bai Yuxi’s expression darkened as she noted the man’s stubbornness.

“Then break his limbs and take him back for the Southern Military to interrogate.”

The man’s eyes widened, as soon as Bai Yuxi finished speaking, her military knife struck down unhesitatingly on his leg bone.

He clenched his fists, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.

He struggled to suppress his screams, trying to swallow them back.

Just as Bai Yuxi was about to break the man’s hand, Ren Qingqiu reached out to stop her.

Jing Zhuo looked at Ren Qingqiu, thinking she might have a clever plan, only to see her pull out the gun that Bai Yuxi had given her that day.

“Commander, using the gun would be more straightforward.”

The man’s face turned pale, and his limbs began to thrash about.

Was this a joke? After a few bullets fired, he feared for his very life!

He felt a chill running down his back, and the pain from his broken bones seemed to fade.

“Earlier it was a special situation, an emergency defense. We can use a gun,” Jing Zhuo said seriously to Ren Qingqiu. “But now, without permission, using a gun outside of school would violate the gun control law.”

“Why are you overthinking? Just say we fired in pursuit, and that’s it!”

Ren Qingqiu was too lazy to argue and aimed to shoot.

Jing Zhuo immediately blocked her.

“No way. How could you shoot at the legs during a chase? Plus, gunshot wounds can lead to excessive blood loss and death. You’d be violating Article 202 of the Criminal Law…”
