Addison Hayes's waist was gripped in Ethan Steele's hand.
His touch was a brand, searing her skin, turning her limbs to water.
"Ethan, our agreement is over..."
His fingers, rough and demanding, clamped around her chin.
His voice, a low rumble, grazed her lips. "It's over at dawn. Until then, you're still mine."
Addison frowned, her brows knitting together.
She couldn't understand how they'd ended up tangled together again.
Today was the last day of their contract. Just half an hour ago, she'd been gathering her belongings, ready to leave.
But Ethan, that man, had walked in and started undressing. He gave her no chance to speak, launching his assault, relentless and familiar, just like all the other times.
Three years. Not too long, not too short.
He'd molded her inexperienced body, knew every inch of her. She couldn't resist him.
The air thickened with a building intimacy.
The liquor cabinet behind them rattled with each thrust.
"I have something important tomorrow," Addison whispered. "Don't leave any marks."
Ethan paused, a cold scoff escaping his lips.
Then, he pushed harder, more forcefully.
...
An hour later, Addison emerged from the shower, clean and damp. She caught her reflection in the mirror, confirming her fears: not a single patch of skin was unmarked.
Ethan was outside, smoking his after-sex cigarette.
He leaned back, languid, his gaze sweeping over her back with a hint of possessiveness. "Sure you don't want to renew?"
Addison paused.
Her thoughts drifted back three years, to when she was twenty-two. Her family had gone bankrupt, her father had jumped to his death, and her mother had fallen gravely ill. The crushing weight of medical bills, coupled with the constant harassment of debt collectors, forced them into hiding. At her lowest point, she'd even slept under a bridge.
Desperate, she'd almost considered ending it all, taking her mother with her.
Meeting Ethan Steele had been an unexpected stroke of luck. A three-year contract, a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Ethan was probably the best sugar daddy one could ask for. In bed, he was all business, no games. He was generous, too, covering her mother's medical expenses and providing for her every need.
But the unfortunate part was, this caged bird had developed feelings.
When her body was filled, her heart was occupied, too.
