Addison felt utterly humiliated. She was so angry she wanted to lash out, kicking and punching. "Have you had enough of your little show? If you have, then get out of my way! I''m going back to the office!"
Ethan was about to step back when a muffled thud came from the other side of the wall.
They both froze. The sound was so sudden, as if something had broken, that it piqued their curiosity.
Thump-thump-thump—
The sound was muffled but rhythmic. Addison blinked, about to strain her ears to listen more closely, when she heard other, unmistakable sounds.
Addison: "..."
Oh! Oh my god!
Addison''s face exploded in a blush. Realizing what that thumping sound was, she panicked, desperate to escape.
Once again, Ethan blocked her path.
Addison stammered, "W-what are you doing? Are you going to listen in on your own cousin?"
Ethan said expressionlessly, "I have no interest. But didn''t you hear what they said earlier?"
"...No!"
"Not the part about ''so deep,''" Ethan said matter-of-factly. "Juliet said she was tired of this place and wanted to go somewhere else."
Addison was puzzled. Had she said that?
Just then, they heard the sound of a door opening outside the study. They were coming out!
The footsteps grew closer. "So, darling, you like it in the study," the man''s voice said teasingly.
Addison could no longer pretend to be calm. She stammered, "I, I... What do we do? What do we do?"
The door wasn''t locked. They could just open it and walk in.
In the next second, Ethan wrapped his arm around her waist. "There''s a storage room behind the bookshelf."
"Huh?"
Before Addison could react, Ethan had swept her up and carried her towards the storage room.
The study door was opened, then closed and locked. This time, there were no walls separating them; it was a live performance.
Ethan stood silently. The woman in his arms was completely stiff, her hands covering her ears, not moving a muscle.
Ethan was used to this sort of thing, long past being titillated, but with Addison here, he couldn''t guarantee how he''d react.
He peered through the gaps in the bookshelf. Juliet''s fiancé didn''t actually come from a very impressive family. Her family didn''t approve. But Juliet was so in love with him, she was determined to be with him no matter what.
Ethan had previously thought she was just love-struck. But now, taking a look, he understood. The man was good-looking, had stamina, and catered to her every whim. He knew exactly how to handle a young woman like Juliet.
Ethan lowered his gaze. He thought, uncharacteristically, Addison, this pampered young lady, had had plenty of suitors before. Why was she so fixated on him?
Could it be that she was also attracted to his skills?
Ethan was instantly displeased. That would make her too easily deceived.
Seeming to sense the man''s displeasure, Addison slowly came back to her senses. Seeing herself in his arms, she quickly pulled away.
She was no longer so nervous, and anger began to surface. What did he mean, this is all she''d ever be? Was he so blameless?
