Addison entered the apartment building.

One of the motion-sensor lights was broken again. She coughed, but it didn''t turn on, so she ignored it.

She trudged upstairs, head down.

Tears streamed down her face like a dam had burst.

She kept wiping them, kept wiping them.

But she couldn''t get rid of them.

She walked faster, panting, unable to stop herself from making sounds, her voice thick with sobs.

Finally, she couldn''t take it anymore. She leaned against the wall.

She cried for a long time.

"Ethan Steele."

"You bastard."

"I''ll never like you again."

...

The next day, Addison went to work with swollen, red eyes.

When she got to the office, she saw the closed doors and remembered that it was the weekend. She didn''t have to work.

She slapped her dizzy forehead and turned to hail a cab.

In this state, she would only worry her mother at the hospital. She might as well go back to sleep.

But when she got home, she found people in her apartment.

Addison was confused. "Hello, are you looking for me?"

The person turned around, introducing himself casually. "I''m a real estate agent. This apartment has been sold. I''m showing it to potential buyers. How soon can you move out?"

Addison's mind went blank.

What?

The agent took out a contract to show her. "This apartment originally belonged to Mr. Steele. He put it on the market last night. A potential buyer wants to come and see it, but I didn''t know you hadn''t moved out yet."

Addison snapped out of it.

These apartments had been bought by Ethan Steele long ago.

The cheap rent, just like a game, had protected her and kept her safe from gossip.

Now that they had broken up.

All of this had to be sorted out.

Addison said politely, "Then you can show the apartment. I''ll move out today."

She went outside and contacted a moving company.

After searching for a while on the internet, she realized that it was hard to find an apartment.

In this prime location, only the dilapidated houses of some holdouts were cheap. Otherwise, it was practically all annual rent.

After a few months, the price of these dilapidated houses had also increased, and there were no vacancies.

After searching all day without finding anything suitable, Addison packed her things and booked a hotel room.

Fortunately, she didn''t have much stuff. She sold what she couldn''t take, and the remaining clothes could fit in one suitcase.

She hailed a cab with her suitcase.

The weather was bad. It was drizzling.

Many cabs were occupied. Addison waited for about ten minutes before finally getting one.

The taxi left.

In the rain, a black Range Rover parked on the side of the road. The wipers swayed, and Ethan Steele's face was alternately illuminated and darkened.
