Control (A Shadow The Hedgehog x Reader Story)

After a very quick trip, Shadow pulled up outside a large shopping centre. "She should be here soon" he said, holding his hand out to assist y/n off the bike. "That was... different" y/n said between catching breaths, her body filled with adrenaline but feeling shaken up at how Shadow weaved between the traffic. Sure she felt somewhat safe gripping ahold of him, but she wasn't in a rush to do that again. She had reached a verdict that her preferred mode of transport was now walking.

Just as she was about to ask more questions about the bike and Shadow in general, a feminine voice called out "hi Shadow!" And a girl came running over. A pink hedgehog, with a red dress, boots and headband came skipping over waving. "Y/n this is Amy Rose" Shadow said gesturing at the girl, "Amy this is y/n, look after her" Shadow said, revving his bike up again and reversing out. "Where am I taking her once we are done?" Amy called out. "I'll find her, Im not giving you my home address" he said as he drove off. "What a grump" Amy said as the motorbike took off.

Amy turned around back to y/n, and smiled. "So you're Shadow's new friend! Its nice to meet you" she said with a kind smile. "Shadow said he doesn't have friends, just colleagues and allies" y/n added, wishing she had the same level of enthusiasm. "Oh thats just him being all dark and brooding, he has friends really whether he wants to admit it or not!" Amy said playing with her dress. "Now lets go shopping!" She cheered as she grabbed y/n's arm and ran into the shopping centre.

"So y/n, what do you need?" Amy said as the strolled down the arcade of shops, looking in all the windows. "Pyjamas" was the first thing y/n thought of, she didn't want to sleep in her one set of clothes again to bed. "You don't have any pyjamas?" Amy stopped and asked puzzled, thinking surely she had at least one pair. Y/n shook her head. "I have nothing other than the clothes on me" y/n spoke softly, and Amy frowned. "Well lets go and fix that" Amy responded in the same tone, taking her hand and pulling her into the first clothes shop they saw.

"These are cute!" Amy said as she picked up a pair of pyjamas with a small creature printed all over them. It was a blue and yellow creature with big eyes and little wings, a little ball of yellow floating above its head. "Whats that thing on them?" Y/n questionned, not recognising it, she was just glad it wasn't a frog. "You haven't seen a chao before? They're so cute, my friend Cream has one she named Cheese!" Amy answered admiring the pyjamas and putting them in y/n's basket. "A chao huh? I guess they are cute" y/n commented as she continued looking at the other pyjamas. She got a fluffy blue hoodie for herself too.

They headed to the tills shortly after and tapped the card on the machine to pay, then packed their purchases into bags and left.

"So y/n, howd'ya meet Shadow?" Amy questionned as they entered a craft store. "Well I- err... i woke up in a hospital bed and a few days later he entered my room" she summarised, skipping out on the whole mushroom soup incident. "Thats not very Shadow like" Amy responded and y/n shrugged. "Where do you live? I bet your house is super lovely" Amy asked next. This girl was straight into the big questions. "Oh I live with Shadow" y/n said casually as she scrolled through the shelves. Amy froze in place. "So he walks into your hospital room and then just offers you a place in his house?" she questionned. Y/n hadn't thought of it that way.

"W-well yeah but I needed somewhere to stay and he offered s-so I took it and didn't think much of it" y/n answered, trying to shake off the agreeance of the whole situation being a bit odd. She spotted a shelf with some colouring books and picked up a space themed one and a pack of colouring pencils. "You like space? Has Shadow told you about any of his space adventures yet?" Amy continued questioning. "He's been to space?" Y/n asked, followed shortly by Amy slapping herself in the face with "I'll take that as a no". "I'm sure he'll tell me about it at some point" y/n answered. They headed to the checkout with armfuls of art and craft supplies, and continued to wander around the shops.

"You know I have a spare room in my cottage if you want to move in with me?" Amy offered so politely, following with "It would be nice to have another girls company". It was a lovely offer which y/n wasn't quite sure how to respond to. So she smiled and just said "thats really nice of you Amy, but Shadow was so polite to offer and he's not so bad" to which she responded instantly with "do you have a crush on Shadow, y/n?".

Y/n could feel herself blushing, before quickly responding with "n-no h-he was just very nice for h-helping me" she answered looking away, that thought hadn't even crossed her mind. Amy giggled to herself before spotting a shop filled with cuddly toys.

"So many fluffy toys, let's go!" Amy cheered, again pulling y/n into the store with a yelp. Fluff and pastels everywhere. "I love cuddly toys don't you? They're just so cute!" Amy cheered, searching through them. "I... don't think I've ever had one. I didn't have one on the mushroom planet and I don't remember anything before that" y/n sighed. "Thats... Thats so sad" Amy said glancing into y/n's eyes, just trying to make out how she feeled. "Is what it is" y/n shrugged, looking over the toys for herself. "I know, we should get matching ones!" she called out, jumping with a fist into the air. "That could be fun" y/n said looking through.

"These alpacas are cute!" Amy said, holding up two in different colours. Both had little black top hats on and matching bowties. One in a pastel blue, and the other lilac. "They are cute, we should get them" y/n smiled. "What one do you like most?" Amy asked, letting y/n decide what one she wanted. "I'll take the lilac, it will go nicely with my room" y/n answered, taking it into her hands and cuddling it. "Perfect! I'll have the blue then, and name it after my Sonic!" she called out.

With that they made their payments and exited the building, and started making their way to the park. Y/n was enjoying herself, and decided to keep the conversation up.
