Control (A Shadow The Hedgehog x Reader Story)

About a week had passed since their trip to the chao garden. Shadow had returned to completing his missions for gun, and y/n spent her time at home. At first she was bored but now she had come to enjoy the peace and tranquility, and found it was the perfect time to paint whilst Shadow was at work. It meant he wouldn't be watching her every move and she wouldn't feel any pressure to make it perfect. Her current piece was a canvas of the chao garden, with trees in bloom and small chao everywhere.

Shadow had seemed in an odd mood that morning but she just assumed he was fed up of mission after mission dealing with idiots. She'd try and soothe him everytime he came home but this morning was different, he seemed... awkward. Like he was hiding something.

Today she was going to see Tails though, to discuss an idea with him. Ever since she spoke with Maria's spirit on the ark she wanted to see if there would be anyway way at all to bring her back, seeing as Shadow himself couldn't see or hear her until the girl possessed y/n's body. So she wanted to put some ideas out to him, and see if he would be willing to help.

Tails' workshop was only a short walk from the apartment, so it didn't take her long to get there. She knocked at the door, then heard the clanging of tools. He was in.

"Tails, its me y/n! Can I come in?" She called out, knocking on the door again. "Yeah its open!" He called back, and she opened the door and walked inside.

"Hey Tails, how are you?" She asked, looking around in awe at all the projects he had going on. He crawled out from underneath his plane, brushing some of the dirt off. "I'm good thanks! What brings you here?" He asked inquisitively. "I had an idea as a present for Shadow, and I just wondered if I could run it by you? Its something you would have to help me on, you see" she said, placing herself in a chair nearby.

"Run?" A blue flash entered the room. "Not that sort of run Sonic" she rolled her eyes laughing. "Ah I could have done with a jogging partner" he joked back.

"So, what are you thinking?" Tails asked, and she started to explain her idea.

"Happy Valentines day, handsome" Rouge said as Shadow entered her office. "I've never had a reason to celebrate this day, what do I do?" He questioned. He knew it was to do with dating and love, but other than that he had nothing. "Well you ask the person you love to be your valentine, usually accompanied by a bouquet of flowers and chocolates, and go somewhere nice and meaningful" she answered him.

"Flowers, chocolates, and a date" he nodded, making a mental note for later. "I might take a trip to Angel Island later, see if I can get Knucky to attach that beautiful emerald to my finger" she semi joked, looking at her hands imagining the size of that ring.

"Any valentines plans, Omega?" She asked as the robot entered the room, who replied quickly back with "NEGATIVE". No more comments were made after that.

"So, Rouge" Shadow asked, waiting for the bat to start the conversation that they were meant to be here for. "Oh yes right sorry, commander time" she said, flying around to the front of her desk to perch herself on it, crossing her leg over her knee and holding the edge.

"Eggman has been quiet for a while now" she started, looking for any sort of reaction "too long" she added shortly after. "So tomorrow you two are going to Metropolis, see if there is much sign of him there as thats where his bots were last spotted" she said. "I'd love to come, but I kinda have to run things around here" Rouge added.

"WHY NOT TODAY" Omega queried. "Because If I send you today Shadow would skip his first ever meaningful valentines day to do it, and I'm not letting that happen" she answered. "Especially when theres no guarantee that you'll find anything, If it was an emergency sure" she answered. "ACKNOWLEDGED" Omega answered.

Tails and y/n had been discussing ideas for a while, and had come up with some sort of contraption that had the potential to do just what she wanted. Whether the device would work or not, neither of them quite knew. Time would tell.

"We won't know until we test it, but its still a great idea and a fun project!" Tails commented, looking over the plan again before putting it away. "I'll start it first thing tomorrow!" he cheered, and y/n laughed back. "Thanks Tails, I just hope it all goes to plan and he likes it once its done" she said back, and Tails nodded with reassurance. 

"Let me know how it goes, I'll see you soon!" she waved as she said goodbye and made her way back home. "Bye Sonic!" she called out, and he waved back, too busy shoving chilli dogs into his mouth to talk.
