Control (A Shadow The Hedgehog x Reader Story)

"A rainbow?"

"No"

"A christmas lights salesroom?"

"No"

"Balamory?"

"I don't know what that is, but no"

Y/n asked questions the whole way there, holding tightly onto Shadow's waist as they weaved through traffic on his motorbike through the city. "Are we nearly there yet?" Y/n asked, slowly opening her eyes to see where exactly where they were. The city was now in the distance, and the air smelt much fresher and less polluted now.

"Are you a child?" Shadow asked. "Not legally" y/n answered. "You act like it" Shadow smirked.

Completely ignoring him, y/n questioned "are we going to the beach?" She asked next, looking ahead of Shadow to see a beach, with a pier and amusement rides. She could hear the faint sound of joyous screams over the engine of his bike roaring. "Not quite" he answered.

A few moments later and he parked the bike up and they both climbed off. "So it is the beach, whats bright and colourful about the beach?" Y/n asked, confused by Shadow's logic. "Its not the beach" Shadow responded, followed by "its up here, come on" and continued walking, y/n jogging to catch up. In that moment, Shadow decided she did not have super speed as a power. He led her up some steps, and then along a long wooden path.

"Here" Shadow said, taking a look around for himself, it wasn't usually his sort of thing but it looked like it could bring some sort of entertainment for the afternoon. It also wasn't coming out of his bank account...

Y/n looked around to see where she had been brought. It was a cute little amusement park on a pier, people were laughing and cheering and happiness filled the air. Above the walkway was rainbow coloured lighting with bunting depicting ice cream, along the sides were food stands selling sweet snacks, game stands and just a bit further into the distance she could see a ferris wheel and a wooden rollercoaster.

"This place looks amazing" y/n said in awe. Shadow just watched as she took it all in, hoping he would have no powers to report, although he was certain he could keep last nights fiasco a secret for now. "Ready?" Shadow said, holding up his workplace bank card, y/n nodded and clapped in enthusiasm.

The first stand they tried had a mallet and a bell at the top of the post. "Try your strength! Prize every time" the man at the stand called out. Y/n was beaming, looking at Shadow who gestured for her to go up to it. "Good sir would you like to win your lady the cutest toys in town?" The stand holder said as Shadow paid, handing him the mallet. He blushed just enough for y/n to notice, and handed the mallet to her. "Hit that bell as hard as you can" Shadow said, swiftly shaking off the comment. "O-okay" y/n said , lining herself up. She lifted it high above her head and slammed it back down again.

The ball made it half way to the bell, before losing momentum and falling back to the bottom. "Nice try! You can pick from any of these toys in this bucket here, maybe you should have let your man do it" the stall holder said as y/n handed the mallet back and started to pick a toy.

Shadow was rather annoyed by that comment. He snatched the mallet out of the guys hands and slammed it down on the button. The ball shot up and hit the bell, which rang before falling off the stand as the ball flew into the air and landed with a splash in the rippling sea behind them. The stall holder and y/n stood there with jaws dropped, unsure what they had just witnessed. Y/n picked a toy chao, a blue and yellow one as Shadow pulled her away. "Change your attitude" Shadow growled at the stall holder, who was still stood in shock, as he pulled y/n away.

"Your strong Shadow" Y/n cheered, holding her toy chao. "I work out" Shadow answered back bluntly, avoiding the subject of his powers. He mentally crossed out physical strength as a possible power for her tho. Y/n ignored his response not taking the attitude personally.

"Shadow! Theres strawberries with brown goop on!" Y/n said jogging up to a food stand. "Thats chocolate" Shadow answered, looking at the lust for the food in her eyes. "You want chocolate strawberries?" he asked for clarity. She nodded, mouth starting to drool against the glass. He paid for two pots, handing one to y/n. She thanked him, and started murdering them with her mouth. He smiled at the sight, and ate his too.

"Urgh, y/n you got some chocolate on your chin" Shadow said, watching her try and wipe it herself. "Did I get it?" she asked, as Shadow held in laughter, shaking his head. "You made it worse, here" he said as he wiped it off himself. "Thanks" y/n giggled, recycling the packaging.

Soon they came across the rides. "Lets go Shadow!" she grabbed his hand, pulling him towards a large wooden rollercoaster. "You just ate, do you really want to do this to yourself?" he confirmed with her as she pulled him into the queueline. "It'll be fun!" she cheered, and he rolled his eyes as they boarded. "Fine, as long as your not sick" he said as they pulled the lap bar down. The staff checked their bars and off the vehicle went, racing around the track. Y/n gripped hold of the bar, and then to Shadow for the entire ride, and as the breaks slammed to a stop she looked traumatised, catching her breath. "Speed not your thing?" Shadow asked trying not to laugh. She shook her head, muttering "I feel a bit sick" as he helped her out of the seat. Super speed was definitely not a power she had, her brain couldn't tolerate a rollercoaster let alone speed.

"Still want the ferris wheel?" Shadow said, pointing at the big spinning wheel. "Another day" she said, covering her mouth.

As they carried on down the pier, they came across another stall that had more cuddly toys up for grabs. Shadow looked at y/n and could see her eyes were wide in excitement. "Want to try that one?" He asked, she nodded with childlike excitement. All you had to do was throw a ball into a net to win. The first attempt the ball hit the rim and bounced off straight away, the second was a complete miss. "How much do you want that toy?" Shadow asked. "More than anything" she said, picking up the final ball. Shadow took the ball before she could, turned his back to the net and threw it over his shoulder, getting it straight in. The stall holder rang a bell calling out "winner!" And y/n cheered. She picked up the plushie, a brown and white dog with glittery blue eyes, and hugged it tight. "Thank you Shadow" she said and a small smile appeared on his face again. "Ready to go?" He asked, she nodded and yawned and they strolled towards his bike.
