Control (A Shadow The Hedgehog x Reader Story)

Shadow pushed her back to her room in the wheelchair, and for a brief moment there was silence. "Hey Shadow?" She whispered. "Hmm?" He responded. "When we are done here can I go and talk to Maria again?" Y/n asked softly, as he helped her back into the bed. "You aren't dying on me" he responded firmly. He wouldn't have that. "I didn't mean being dead, silly" she smiled at him. "I'm glad you established that" he smirked back followed by "Why do you want to go back there?". "I just want to talk to Maria again" she replied. "We'll see" he responded, tucking her back in under the sheets before sitting himself back on the chair.

Soon a different doctor came in and explained how they hadn't found any blood donor matches yet, although he had brought in all the equipment anyway. He also confirmed nothing was fractured or broken and all her pain was from severe bruising, and they both sighed in relief.

"Take my blood" Shadow said staring at the doctor. "We don't know if you're compatible, Shadow" the doctor responded. So Shadow got up, taking one end of the tubing finding the needle on the end and stabbed it into his own vein.

Y/n and the doctor glanced at each other in disbelief as Shadow's blood started running through the line. "Put the other end into her" Shadow said somewhat aggressively, passing the other end of the line to the doctor and walking to y/n's side. "No point in being the ultimate lifeform if you can't help cure someone" he mumbled to himself but just loud enough for the room to hear. The doctor sighed knowing Shadow was a creature not to be messed with, and carefully placed the other end into y/n's veins, leaving them alone once complete.

"I told you I'd be so attached to you" he said watching as his blood started flowing into her. "You know, if one of us needs the toilet we both have to go" she weakly smiled as Shadow climbed back onto the bed next to her. "As long as you don't fart" he responded, making y/n giggle and him smile. "You can have that nap now if you want it, I'll be right here" he whispered seeing how tired her face looked. She nodded cuddling up to him and starting to drift off.

Shadow on the other hand couldn't sleep, he just wanted her to be back to how she was when he first brought her home, happy and bouncy. He still felt all the guilt and wanted to give her the world, holding her forever and never letting go. Maria was right, as she always was.

He laid there watching his blood treacle into her slowly and gradually. She looked so peaceful asleep and it wasn't long before she started dreaming and he watched. For the most part she was just holding on to Shadow like he could disappear at any second, which is what he had been trying to do to her all day. Eventually he drifted off too, snuggling up as close as he could to her.

Y/n was the first to wake up, seeing that Shadow was snuggled as far as he could into her. She groaned slightly, waking him up. "Hey" he said, nuzzling her neck, "how do you feel?" He spoke muffled into it. "Better now you're a part of me" she answered with a smirk, making Shadow blush. "That sounds inappropriate and corny" Shadow chuckled against her skin, but he could feel she was rolling her eyes.

When the doctor came in he showed clear relief to see they were both well. He removed the line from Shadow first, bandaging his arm tight to stop the bleeding. Then the same to y/n.

"I think you're ready to go home" the doctor said as he checked her over. Her colour had come back and the stitches had held. "I don't have any other instructions other than keep those stitches clean and plenty of rest" the doctor said as he left the room, Shadow thanking him. Shadow packed her stuff into a bag again, and offered his hand as she climbed off the bed. They exited together, relieved to be going back home.

It was a quiet walk home. They took their time strolling through the park and taking in the fresh air, far superior to the air that lingered in the hospital. Soon they were in the lift going back to Shadow's apartment, and he let them both in.

"Home sweet home" she quietly said, making her way to the sofa and sitting herself down.

"Have you told Amy we'll be coming to her party yet?" Y/n asked Shadow as he started making a hot chocolate. "No I was hoping you might have forgotten" Shadow answered over the top of the whir of the kettle boiling. "Nice try" she answered. She planned how best to tease him next whilst she waited for the hot beverage. Shadow passed it to her shortly after, topped with cream and marshmallows. She smiled and thanked him, taking a sip just as an idea crawled into her head. He turned back to the kitchen to get snacks.

"Maybe I'll just go with Sonic then, he seems nice enough" she said casually as she took another sip. Shadow froze on the spot, ear twitching. She'd hit a nerve.

Before she knew it Shadow was over the top of her, his fiery eyes glaring into hers. "Repeat that" he said, daring her with his eyes. She felt butterflies dancing around in her stomach, but she did. "I said maybe Sonic would go with me, he seems nice enough" she smirked, seeing how mad Shadow was going. "He's a faker" Shadow responded, and carrying on her game y/n ignored his remarks and carried on with "I wonder if he's single" as Shadow's eyes started to glow. Maybe she had gone a bit too far. She took another sip of her drink for added effect.

She couldn't help herself, teasing him gave an adrenaline rush. "I should ask him" y/n added as a final remark as Shadow retaliated. She just about got her words out before Shadow crashed his lips onto hers, kissing her passionately with a point to prove. She could tell he wanted more but wasn't pushing for it.

He pulled away, catching his breath for a moment. "I am the ultimate-" he started before being interrupted "flirt, chef and lifeform, i know Shadow" she giggled to herself. "Gonna tell Amy that you're bringing me to her party then?" She smirked. "Yes" he answered walking away, as she sipped her hot chocolate with a smirk.
