"You do puzzles when you're anxious," he points out "Is it because the wedding's today." You shake your head quickly. "No, I told you. I'm over Atsumu," you tell him. "Are you sure though?" his tone raises in pitch as he questions you again.
You take a deep breath in and take the cardboard lid off of your puzzle box. "Trust me Osamu, I am more than positive. I'm just doing this puzzle because I brought it and forgot about it," you lie. You try your best not to give him any telltale signs that you're lying as you start sorting puzzle pieces. "Okay," he mutters "If you say so."
Tuning out the brunette you start putting pieces of your puzzle together. This one was a five-hundred-piece puzzle of a beautiful mountain villa. You hadn't done this puzzle yet so you were excited to finish it. Even though you'd have to take it apart by the end of the trip. There was only about a day and a half left.
Then you'd have to return to your normal life. Though things might change slightly. That is—if you talk to Osamu like you had planned. "Hey, where are your parents? I feel like I haven't seen them since we first arrived."
"Probably in their room, but Dad is gonna play volleyball with us—you know while the bridal party gets ready," he replies. You nod along at his words. "Alright guess I'll just occupy myself with your Mom, besides, I just checked the seating chart Gisela sent out and I'm sitting next to them in the front." You tell him with a bright smile.
Osamu's jaw drops open as he pumps his fist in the air. "Perfect, I'll be sneaking glances at you to see if you start to doze off." he laughs. You punch his shoulder and roll your eyes, "I won't doze off," you pause as your eyes meet the brunette's.
For a moment, you linger on a thought that has been in your head for nearly a week now. But it dies on your tongue and is replaced by a question. "So, when are you meeting the guys?"
"I'm not sure," he admits as he grabs his phone which is next to your empty puzzle box. "The group chat they started is all over the place," he tells you with a heavy sigh. You laugh at the thought of the group chat overflowing with spam texts that consisted of a million questions and no answers. "I can imagine," you smile as you connect some border pieces of your puzzle.
"Hey can I help you with the puzzle?" he raises a brow as he lowers his body and brings himself to a squat so he's closer to the table. You hesitate for a moment and don't respond. You never do puzzles with anyone else. It was something you've always done alone. Osamu is well aware of this. "I mean you never let me help you, can I just put one piece together?" he begs.
Your tongue glides over your bottom lip nervously before you suck in a deep breath. "You can help, until you have to get ready."
"Seriously?" The chef raises a skeptical brow "I was almost joking, I didn't think you would say yes." he admits as he sits down. "Hurry up and do something before I change my mind," you tell him.
Quickly his brown eyes dart around the table searching for matching pieces of a puzzle. "Oh!" he exclaims as he grabs two center pieces and puts them together. He holds them up and grins at you. "Found a match," he tells you proudly.
You wince at the fact that he was doing centerpieces first and nod at him. "Good job Samu," you cringe as he sets the pieces down. "But you should help me find the edge pieces, okay?"
"Oh, right that's your strategy," he remembers as he nods at your words.
For about an hour and a half you work on the puzzle with Osamu, but it doesn't get finished before he has to leave. You want to blame it on the fact that you worked better alone. But in reality, you kept sneaking glances at the brunette who was concentrating on finding pieces.
You couldn't help but admire him now, especially knowing that he always took interest in the things you did This of course wasn't the first time he wanted to do a puzzle with you. However, it was the first time you let him.
Osamu's ringer is what pauses the lack of puzzle getting done. He frowns as he reads the message on his screen and he glances up at you. "Looks like I should go get ready now," he sighs as he stands up from the floor.
"We should finish this after the ceremony," he suggests "I'm sure it'll keep you occupied." he smiles weakly. You can tell he still doesn't believe you about how you're feeling. You just can't wait to prove him wrong. "Can't wait." is all you reply back with a small smile.
He then vanishes into the bedroom and you look back to the unfinished puzzle. Your hand hovers over some pieces that you so desperately want to work on. Then you had decided against it so you had more to do with Osamu.
You didn't know how long you sat there staring at the unfinished puzzle until Osamu came out of the room in some gym clothes. In his left hand, he held his suit that was zipped away in a garment bag. Over his left shoulder was a duffel bag. "So I guess I'll just see you at the ceremony then," you nod as your eyes dart away from his exposed muscular arm.
"Yeah," he nods "Can't wait to see you in that dress again." he smiles and you feel your stomach flutter. "Right," you agree, "See you later Samu." you smile as he heads for the door. "See you later Y/n."
The words from earlier start to bubble up your throat again as your body shoots up from the floor so you are standing. "Just so you know," you call to the man as he pauses just before the door. "You're not a coward Samu, I'm just dense."
He furrows his eyebrows at you and nods at your words. "Uh," he didn't know what you were referring to now. You knew he was smart though, it would hit him later. When it was supposed to.
"Don't worry about it," you shake your head "Go have fun."
