My Saviour

(Lucy's POV)

It's 4am I wake up the same time every morning I got up and slicked back my curly hair I put it up into a bun and stuck a ton of hair pins in to make it secure I got dressed and put on my riding helmet aswell as my outfit and then my black boots i went downstairs and got an apple then I walked to the stables I walked past each stable until I got to ravens.

I got out the saddle pad and saddle aswell as the bridle I put on his bridle first then his saddle pad then the saddle I did the buckles then adjusted my stirrups I kept the whips locked away I didn't need them I could trust my life with this horse "you ready boy?"I said patting his side he lifted his head up and neighed I lead him out of his stable and down to the arena so we could train.

I got up on him and put my feet in the stirrups i walked around first then I practiced our canter and trot I dismounted off raven and tied him to the fence post "wait a sec boy I'm gonna get us a jump set up"I side scratching his side before going to the jump section I set up a few jumps at varied heights I got back on raven "come on we got this rai"I said patting his side we cantered up to the first jump then jumped it then we did the second one and third but raven stopped at the 4th one "it's okay boy let's try again"I said shortening my reigns.

I steered him left so we could go around again this time he managed the jump "good boy rai rai"I said patting his side and giving him a mint I always kept a pack in my pocket I continued training with him for another 1 hour then my parents showed up "Lucy straighten your posture and where's your whip"my mum yelled at me "I'm fine mum and raven doesn't need a whip he does good okay?"I told her "try the big jump now Lucy"she instructed.

I rolled my eyes and lined raven up "come on boy you got this"I whispered I gave his side a wick pat before cantering before the jump I squeezed his sides with my legs and gave him more length on the reigns I leant forward as he jumped we cleared the jump and continued canter clearing it a second time I halted him with the reigns and scratched his side "good boy raven"I praised him my mum came over to the fence "now try clear it 4 times there's no room for beginners Lucy your my daughter you will be the best"she said.

"Yes ma'am"I said getting raven into canter we cleared it 3 times then a fourth "see that's what you do to score points Lucy"my mum shouted I gave raven 2 mints "good boy raven your making my mum proud of me for once"I whispered into his ear he kicked his hoove at the floor and nickered I laughed "Lucy come on get him in his stable you have school in 2 hours"my mum said I got off raven and lead him to his stable before I untacked him "you did amazing boy see you tomorrow"I said giving him a few more mints and a kiss on the nose.

I walked back home my parents said I could use the exercise we got home and I had a quick shower then got dressed into baggy joggers and a hoodie I put on my normal shoes and slung my backpack over my shoulder on my way out the door I went to grab an apple my mum smashed my hand away "you know the rules Lucy one apple a day until competition day you need to stay fit"my mum scolded me "yes I know bye"I said leaving the house and walking to school.

I'd only been in this school a week I have no friends and I'm pretty sure I never will I headed to first period English we had to write a short story so I wrote mine about me and my raven then i went to break I sat outside and was behind a tree I watched videos on my phone so I could see how to improve my form and get into my rising trot easier then it was third period I went to science "everyone pick a partner we have a science project due Monday you will work with your partner on your project"the teacher said I just sat alone at the back a girl came over her hair was also curly.

She was very pretty "hey I'm Angela can I be your partner?"she asked "yes thanks"I said moving my seat over "you don't have to move any further I have enough space"she reassured me "you sure?"I asked "yes I'm positive it's lunch oh now come on let me introduce you to my friends what's your name?"she asked "I'm Lucy..Lucy Chen"I told her "I'm Angela Lopez"Angela said we walked to the back field and she took me to a group that was sat under a big tree "hey guys this is Lucy she's new joined last week thought she should be our friend"Angela said.

"Whatever"a boy said "Tim stop being grumpy"Angela said "I'm Celina one of the girls said "nice to meet you"I said the others introduced themselves then I say next to Angela I pulled out my phone and watched videos on how to do the rising trot in a better posture "what you watching?"angela asked I quickly shoved my phone under my lap "nothing"I said pulling it back out and turning it off.

"Oooh someone's got a secret"Jackson said "I don't I just don't tell newly met people stuff about me"I said gathering my things "Lucy wait we have PE together"Angela said "okay"I said waiting she came running over we walked to the changing rooms I started getting dressed Angela just started at me "what?"I asked "is there something on me?"I asked "do you ever eat you look really skinny Lucy"Angela said.

"I eat I'm just on a strict diet at the moment I just have to wait until after tryouts then raven will be mine forever"I said "raven?"she asked "oh uh nothing day dreaming"I said as I pulled on my PE hoodie we did some football I scored almost every goal "well done"the teacher said "it's nothing really I just workout every morning doing something"I said "well I'm impressed keep it up Lucy"he said I smiled we walked back to the changing rooms and I put my baggy hoodie on "hey Lucy wanna hang out now for a few hours at my place?"Angela asked.

"I'm sorry I can't I have so much training to get done maybe another time"I told her as I walked home I got into a fresh outfit the same as my one from earlier just black I re did my hair then went to the stables raven was in the paddock I whistled and he came galloping over slowly halting himself I scratched his nose "hey boy you ready for training?"I said as I put his head collar on him and lead him to the side of the stables.

My mum owned this place the one thing she didn't own was my raven he was apparently sold illegally and the owner said she'd let me buy him off her for cheap if I won tryouts I hosed raven off and tacked him up we did training for a few hours then I took him back to his stable "okay see you tomorrow boy I love you my rai rai"I said as I gave him another mint I walked home and took another shower then dried my hair before falling asleep in my bed.
