He watched the scene in front of him with a grim expression. Half of the cigarette in his fingers had burned before he remembered to take a puff.
His cheeks were slightly sunken, and a layer of irritability rose between his eyebrows.
He impatiently stubbed out the cigarette, his thin lips pressed into a cold line.
"Stubborn woman."
...
When Addison got to the hotel, she was soaked.
Afraid of catching a cold, she quickly took a hot bath and drank a packet of ginger tea to prevent it.
It was raining harder outside.
Addison sat by the window, wrapped in a blanket, feeling somewhat warm.
She sat there, took out her computer, and continued to search for apartments.
After selecting and selecting, she found a small studio apartment with an annual rent of seventy thousand dollars.
Since she had some time in the afternoon, Addison changed her clothes and went to sign the contract with the landlord.
The landlord had big, wavy hair.
And bright red lips.
She took off her sunglasses playfully, looking Addison up and down. "Well, well, if it isn''t Miss Hayes."
Addison's depressed mood finally saw a glimmer of sunshine when she saw Tara Reid.
"Tara! What a coincidence!" She trotted over and sat down across from her. "I didn''t expect you to be the landlord."
Tara chuckled. "I''m not the landlord. The apartment belongs to my mom. She went to play mahjong. I just happened to be free, so I''m helping her with some miscellaneous things."
She looked at the information. "Why did you suddenly decide to move? And to such a small studio apartment? It''s far from your company, and the transportation isn''t very convenient either."
Addison felt uneasy. "The original apartment is no longer being rented. I found this one temporarily. It doesn''t matter if it''s far. I just need to get up earlier."
"This small studio apartment isn''t suitable for you. Let me find you another one."
She was about to take out her phone.
Addison politely declined. "No, thank you. I''ve always lived alone. A studio apartment is fine."
Tara saw her embarrassment and knew what was going on.
She didn''t force it. "Okay, we''ll go eat after we sign the contract."
Addison breathed a sigh of relief.
It was great that she knew her.
Tara held a pen and said casually, "It''s no fun for just the two of us to eat. Do you have any friends?"
Addison glanced at her.
Women knew women too well.
She coughed. "Let me ask Mr. Caldwell."
Tara curled her lips almost imperceptibly.
"Why would you call him? He's too chatty, annoying to listen to."
Addison smiled. She had already dialed the number.
Tara decided to give her a discount on the rent.
Noah Caldwell quickly drove over.
They usually went out to eat with Ethan Steele, so he felt a little uncomfortable without him today.
You need a companion to drink with.
He called Ethan Steele and put it on speakerphone.
The beeping sound tugged at Addison's ears.
She lowered her head and ate peanuts.
The busy signal stopped, and a lazy, magnetic voice came from the other end. "What is it?"
Addison stopped chewing.
Noah said, "Addison is moving today. Want to come out for a drink?"
Ethan Steele: "No time."
Then he hung up the phone.
Noah choked. "Who made him angry?"
Addison absentmindedly stuffed peanuts into her mouth, stopping only when her mouth was full.
Tara glanced at her.
She kicked Noah under the table. "I want to eat egg tarts from that street across the way. Go buy them for me."
Noah: "Go buy them yourself."
"Addison wants to eat them too. Are you going to buy them or not?"
Addison said "Ah?" and looked up, somewhat confused.
Noah rolled his eyes. "I''ll go buy them. Stop using her as a shield."
After he left, Tara asked, "What''s going on with you and Ethan Steele?"
Addison blinked.
She shook her head. "Nothing''s going on."
"Did you guys fight?"
"No."
"I knew something was wrong as soon as you got here. Did you move because of Ethan Steele?" Tara asked. "Are you avoiding him?"
Addison couldn''t hide it anymore.
She said truthfully, "We did fight, but not really. My relationship with him is complicated. It''s not a normal relationship. The apartment was his, so I moved out."
Tara cursed. "What the hell? It''s one thing to fight, but kicking you out? Is he even a man?"
Addison lowered her eyes helplessly. "It''s only right."
"You''re too easy to push around. Ethan must have bullied you a lot. Who hooks up in a haunted house? There''s no romance at all. He''s just taking advantage of the fact that you won''t resist, so he does whatever he wants."
Addison: "..."
Please stop.
She was already sad enough. Saying it like that just made her feel even more unworthy.
Seeing her little face droop again, Tara sighed. "Forget it. There must be something you like about Ethan. I won''t say anything."
Soon, Noah came back with the egg tarts.
Besides the egg tarts, there were other desserts.
Most of them were Tara''s favorites.
There were also some for Addison.
Addison didn''t have much of an appetite. After eating, the rain stopped. The streets outside became lively, and the three of them went shopping.
Since she had moved to a new home, she needed to buy some things.
Addison bought some household items.
As they walked, Tara nudged her.
"Speak of the devil."
Addison followed her gaze.
She saw a familiar car pull up, and a tall man got out, opening the passenger door.
Bianca White got out with a smile, and took his arm.
