Gally's POV
Song: The Scientist - Coldplay

I was trapped in that damn room again.

The air was thick, sterile, suffocating. The walls, white. I could hear my heartbeat. My wrists burned from the restraints, the cold metal biting into my skin. I wanted to move, to sit up, but my body wouldn't listen.

And then I heard a voice.

"Hey, it's over. Wasn't that bad, was it?" A female voice said.

I turned my head, but I couldn't see her face. Just the outline of a girl in a nurse's uniform.

"So... Galileo." She read my name from the paper she was holding. They don't use my name. Im Subject A9.

She wasn't like the others, those silent, faceless doctors with their cold hands and empty stares. She spoke to me.

"They always say it doesn't hurt, but they're not the ones getting poked, are they?" She continued making an injection ready. Then she turned on the radio.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part

Another flash.

She wasn't in a nurse's uniform anymore. And I, I was older. This time, she sat beside me but yet I couldn't see her. The room felt different, less sterile, more real.
"I think they mix something weird in the coffee here. Tastes like chemicals. Then again, everything here does."

Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, let's go back to the start

Another flash.

She was preparing an injection. My arm ached at the sight of. The sting, the burn, the weight pressing down on my chest until I couldn't breathe. Just another test.

"You know, I had the worst dream last night. I was being chased by a giant chicken. Seriously. What do you think that means?" She was trying to distract me.

"Means you're weird." I heard my voice. I heard myself chuckle. A foreign sound.

Another flash

I was just guessing at numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart

She was different now. No injections. No tests. I heard her voice tremble.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I'm so sorry. Everything will change."

She pulled me around the corner, her face still blurred, her voice disappearing.
"One day I will come for you. I promise."

Liar.

I woke up, gasping, soaked in sweat. I hated these dreams. I rarely had them, but when I did...
I never knew if they were just dreams. Or something worse.

I forced myself to breathe, swallowing the shaking in my chest, and pushed up off the ground. My muscles ached, stiff from sleeping on the floor. My eyes flickered to (Y/N), still asleep in my bed, her chest rising and falling.

She was still pale.

Still feverish.

I stood up and reached out, pressing my palm lightly against her forehead. Too warm.

After she completely blacked out on the exam table and Newt finally left, I took her to my hut.
An accident happened on my watch and just looking a bit out for her, was the only responsible thing to do. Right?

I left my hut. It was chilly and the sun was still hiding behind the walls.
