Another chapter today🥰 Enjoy!⭐️

Gally's arm was draped over me, his body warm and steady against mine. For a moment I just lay there, staring at the wooden beams. It was way to early.
On any other day, I might have stayed. I might have turned to face him, counted the freckles on his cheeks, let myself enjoy the weight of his arm around me.

But not today.

There was a restlessness inside me and I couldn't shake it. Thomas. It was the same boy I saw in my dreams. The same boy I played with. And with that same boy, I called a woman Mom.

Carefully, I slipped out from under Gally's arm, moving slow enough not to wake him. He moved slightly but didn't wake. He had too much of his own drink.

I pulled on my boots, grabbed my new clothes and stepped outside.

The Glade was still asleep, the sun still hiding behind the walls as I made my way toward the "shower".

The morning air outside was still cool, and I took a deep breath as I wandered toward the hammocks with wet hair. My eyes lingered on the few still sleeping figures. Then I saw Thomas next to Chuck.
His face was full of distress, his body twitched, his brows furrowed. He had a nightmare. I hesitated for a second, then approached, trying to decide if I should wake him.

"Thomas," I whispered, brushing my fingers lightly over his arm. He didn't wake. But Alby, of all people, appeared next to me out of no where.

"Good, you're awake too. We need to put your name on the wall as well." He whispered and put his hand on Thomas' mouth just as he woke up.

Thomas blinked up at us and for a moment, we just looked at each other. His eyes widened but then Alby motioned for us to follow him.

Was he remembering?

When we reached the wall, I saw the names carved into the stone. Some were old, worn down by time. Others were fresh. A few were crossed out. My stomach turned slightly at the sight, thinking about the maze.

Alby handed us a knife. "Go on," he said after telling us the whole Glade story, leaving us to it.

I stared at the stone in front of me, my fingers tightening around the knife.

The stone was rough, uneven, and it took more effort than I expected. The letters weren't perfect, but they were mine.

Now it was his turn.

"Why are you the only girl here?" He broke the silence.

I shrugged. "No idea. Maybe the creators made a mistake."

He shook his head and continued his work. "This is fucked up."

I crossed my arms, watching. He doesn't remember.

"So", he said after a while, not looking away from the wall, "have you ever been in the maze?"

I scoffed. He was so curious.

"I was and I barely made it out. Not eager to go back again. Gally saved me. So, yesterday when he launched you through the Glade, it was with good intentions."

Now he was the one who scoffed. "Oh, of course. Best welcome I've ever had."

I stared at the letters in the stone, the weight in my chest growing heavier.

I shifted on my feet, exhaling through my nose.

"Did you have a... weird dream?" I asked. "Like a memory. Or something close to it."
