"There has to be a mistake," Susan's eyes scanned over her class requirements again. "My classes should be more focused on my major."
Professor Winters took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, "If I remember correctly, you took highly focused classes your freshman and sophomore year, correct?"
The paper in her hands was becoming crumbled by her rising anxiety, "Yes, the first two years of college classes are a waste. I don't waste time."
"Well," He leaned on his desk folding his hands, "You took the 6 year Masters program and now you have to make up those classes."
Winters had explained this four times already to her.
"It should be a cakewalk for you, Suzy. Your grades are phenomenal!"
She leaned back on her chair, arms dangling at her sides with all hope lost. "Not when the Jackson brothers get ahold of it. They'll take it and twist it, and chew it up and spit it at my feet."
"You would have to take a 0 in every class."
Suzy sat up abruptly, "Did you know they talk about me?!"
Winters rolled his eyes.
"They know I've avoided any and all classes that had their names on it."
"Yes, and we were all quite impressed." He then checked his watch, "Suzy, honey, Richard is at home waiting for me. My office hours ended about 20 minutes ago. Why don't we pick up on Monday after your first day of classes?"
"Jason Winters, I will be dead by then. Dead!"
As she continued to rant, he pulled out his phone to text his partner.
PW: I'll be home late.
RW: Susan?
PW: Yeah.
"— and did you know all of Professor Invincible's classes have a 60% failing rate. 60%!"
"And you're always in the top 20% of every class you take."
He stood from his seat and began gathering his paperwork, throwing it into his bag. She continued to talk about her worries and not graduating in time, following him out of his office, and into the main lobby of Old Main. Her voice continued to echo, making it louder until Winters couldn't take it.
"Susan!" He called to her, stopping dead in his tracks. "Enough, honey. Look, I know you're scared but you are 26 years old, an adult. Don't let these ugly ass brothers make you forget who the hell you are. When Monday comes I want you to make your mark and one they won't ever test, got it."
"But—"
"Got it?"
There was a small silence followed by a soft voice, "Yes Professor."
"Good, now, I'll send you an email in the morning, for now, get some rest, the kids need you."
Susan nodded then said goodbye to Winters before heading out the back of the building.
Old main sat in the middle of the entire campus making it easy to head over to any other building from there. In the north side of campus were the residence halls for the young adults earning their bachelors degrees, as well as a dining hall for everyone to eat.
Susan lived in these dorms for two years, then off campus for two years. After earning her bachelor's degree she returned to campus to become a Residence Hall Director for one of the dormitories, Avalanche Hall, while earning her masters degree.
Her living space was nothing like a freshman college dorm, in fact, they were treated like small apartments connected to the building itself with an entrance on the back.
