(TW: Sexual Assault)

"So, the last real relationship I had was with my ex wife. We weren't together long at all. Two years maybe. It started off with your usual puppy love and I kind of jumped the gun..."

He went on to explain how much he loved her that the proposal was so early on in their relationship. His brothers warned him it was a bad idea. After they married, which was quick and quiet, things began to spiral downward. Slowly but surely she became emotionally abusive and arguing occurred in the home frequently. She spoke down on him and insulted him daily. One thing he wanted in particular was children and yet it seemed like that was never going to come, the one thing he held onto through their relationship. One day it became physically abusive.

Men aren't taken all too serious when it comes to assault but it happened. He wasn't a fighter by any means and would take it, never to raise a hand at her himself. He lied to his family about the bruises and scratches on his body still holding onto the hope of having children.

Finally that came to a peak as he sat her down and spoke to her about children, which she denied him of because 'why should I bring more freaks like you into this world'. It broke him down and his depression over came him. He stopped talking to everyone, even his family and endured her abuse further.

At one point they completely stopped having sex. He wasn't attracted to her anymore and was too depressed to even want something like that. This didn't sit right with her. She forced him to have sex with her, multiple times. He was an empty shell of himself and at on point stopped trying to prevent it hoping once the job was done she'd leave him alone.

"— Then one night, we were fighting over something, I think a bill, but I sat there and took it. When she thought I wasn't paying attention she slapped me across the face. What she didn't know was that two of my brothers were coming to visit and saw it happen. I don't really remember the details but they barged into house and got me out of there. We divorced. I lost the house and moved in with one of my siblings. I've been in therapy ever since..."

"...Wow...I — Can I ask how long ago this divorce was?"

"A little over a year ago," He admitted, "I've been doing better for the most part. I have an emotional support dog at home. She's a real sweetie."

"Oh no way, my friend has one of those. I'm glad you have a pet at least. I think if everyone had a dog the world would be like 50% happier." She paused, "Are you alright after all that?"

"Yeah, you're right," He breathed, "It feels good to get it out in the open. I only talk about this at therapy."

"I'm one semester away from that, maybe you can come see me when my practice is open."

"You're extremely easy to talk to. I wish I would have known you sooner. I'm not generally a people person."

"I'm quite the opposite, but the people seem to find me and I just kind of roll with it."

"Your personality is attractive."

"Can I have everyones attention please!" Nelson announced on a mic. "We're coming to the portion of the night where we have the choice to remove the masks to see who your matches are. Both parties must agree to this before doing so."

"Moving to the next level," Susan spoke, "That's more nerve wracking than the trauma dump."

"I mean — you sound beautiful."

"I sound beautiful," She repeated with a slight laugh, "You swear you won't judge me for my third eye?"

"I wouldn't judge you if you had four eyes. How do you feel about a big reveal? On the count of three?"
