Susan greeted every single person she could off the stage who had helped her in the process of making her tryout something worth remembering.
Tyler O'Donnel approached her taking off his bird beak, "Susan you absolutely killed it."
"I really appreciate all of your help. I know we're supposed to be competitors."
"Yeah but that was actually fun!"
"Professor History is going to snap when he finds out you were part of this."
"Who cares, honestly," He laughed a bit then held out his hand, "May the best pianist win?"
She shook it then winked, "Of course I will."
They exchanged goodbyes before going their separate ways. Susan walked back to a music room behind the stage to change out of her scarecrow costume to something more comfortable. After packing up she checked her phone and saw there was a missed call from the hospital her mother resided.
Immediately she called it back.
Down the hall Professor Thriller and DJ had stepped away from the auditorium to find Susan. Thriller held the flowers they both had chipped in to buy for her as a good luck appreciation.
Just as Thriller was about to open the door to the music room DJ placed his hand on it.
"Shh, hold on. Something isn't right."
"But she's going to be okay, right?" Susan tried to speak through her tears, "Like she'll wake up right?"
Both of them then peaked through the window on the side of the door to see Susan pacing back and fourth, crying.
"Well, what are our options? She has options right?" There was a long pause, "Yes I can be there tonight. I can sign for her."
DJ then pulled Thriller back by the shoulders and held him there, "She's going to come out of there."
"Should we hide?"
"No time."
The door to the music room burst open with Susan rushing out and down the opposite way of the boys. They stood silently each wondering if she would notice them. Her cries intensified once she was off the phone and disappeared as she ran through the double doors.
DJ pat Thriller's shoulder, "Put those in water. We can give them to her later."
"I'm going to find out what's wrong."
DJ placed a hand on his shoulder then flipped him around, "No, you're not. This will however stay between us. I'll talk to her Monday."
"That's a long ways away, bro..."
"I know. It's the only time we can."
Thriller paused, it was the only time DJ could, but not him.
oOoOoOoOo
Susan was gone all weekend and returned late Sunday night. Though working off of only a few hours of sleep she did attend her classes per usual.
She avoided Professor Invincible after class knowing fully he was going to ask what was wrong, however she couldn't avoid the email Dean Jackson sent about their usual meeting on Monday's. If she avoided him more suspicions would raise from all of the brothers.
Sue did her best to put on her normal happy go lucky attitude as she entered DJ's office.
"Mornin," She smiled at him, "I'm excited to hear what you thought of my tryouts."
"It was absolutely incredible. It was nice to see the support that came out for you."
"My freshman call me Aunt Suzy." She explained, "They're like my kids."
