The kitchen was alive with the sound of clinking dishes and overlapping conversations. Ethan stood near the coffee machine, looking far too composed for someone surrounded by utter chaos. Jisung was rifling through the pantry with the urgency of someone about to discover a hidden treasure, while Renjun and Jeno sat at the counter, embroiled in an intense debate over the correct way to slice a bagel.
"I'm telling you, diagonal is the superior cut," Jeno insisted, gesturing wildly with his butter knife.
"Diagonal? What are you, a food blogger?" Renjun shot back, rolling his eyes. "Bagels are meant to be sliced straight across, like a normal person."
Ethan leaned against the counter, sipping his tea with a smirk. "You know, some people just eat bagels without arguing over geometry."
Jeno and Renjun turned to glare at him simultaneously. "Stay out of this, Ethan."
Jisung, having finally found a cereal box, joined the conversation while pouring a comically large bowl. "Why are we even arguing about this? You just eat the bagel. It doesn't matter."
"Typical Jisung," Renjun said with a dramatic shake of his head. "No attention to detail."
"Guys," Andrea cut in as she entered the kitchen, brushing her hands on her jeans. "What are we even—oh no." Her eyes landed on Jaemin, who was holding a plate of what appeared to be the most poorly constructed sandwich she'd ever seen.
"You're not seriously going to eat that, are you?" Andrea asked, pointing at the monstrosity.
Jaemin looked up from the counter with a grin, the sandwich wobbling precariously in his hands. "Why not? It's got everything I like in one bite."
"It looks like a health hazard," Andrea said, crossing her arms. "Please tell me you didn't mix tuna with peanut butter again."
"It's creative," Jaemin defended, taking a bold bite. His expression faltered slightly as the combination hit his taste buds. "Okay, maybe not my best work."
Andrea snatched the plate from him before he could do further damage. "Let me help you. You're gonna end up in the ER if you keep this up."
Jisung leaned over to whisper to Jeno, "Is this what flirting looks like? Because it's confusing."
Renjun, ever the instigator, smirked. "Someone should tell them to just admit it already."
The group's laughter rang out as Andrea fussed over Jaemin, putting together a sandwich that wasn't likely to poison him. But the moment things truly spiraled into chaos came when Andrea, in her attempt to swipe the peanut butter jar from Jaemin, accidentally brushed his hand with hers. It was the most fleeting of touches, but it didn't escape the sharp eyes of their ever-observant friends.
