The medical room was quiet, save for the soft hum of the equipment monitoring Andrea's condition. Her body felt heavy, her mind groggy as she blinked against the sterile brightness of the overhead light. She tried shifting, only for a sharp pain in her side to remind her of what had happened.
The door creaked open, and Jaeda stepped in, her presence commanding even in moments like these. She approached the bed, her sharp eyes scanning Andrea's condition, taking in the bandages wrapped around her shoulder and waist.
"You're awake," Jaeda said, her tone surprisingly soft but still carrying that weight of authority.
Andrea attempted a small smile, though it faltered quickly. "Couldn't miss another scolding from you."
Jaeda allowed the faintest twitch of amusement to cross her lips before her expression hardened. "I need you to listen carefully, Andrea. What happened out there—it can't happen again. You were critically injured. If Chenle and Jisung hadn't found you when they did..."
Andrea cut her off, her tone firmer than Jaeda expected. "I'm fine now. I'll recover. I can stay."
Jaeda raised an eyebrow, unimpressed by Andrea's defiance. "You're not staying."
Andrea blinked, her chest tightening. "What?"
"You're going home," Jaeda said, her voice leaving no room for argument. "At least until you've recovered fully. I won't have you risking your life again."
Andrea sat up slightly, wincing as pain shot through her. "No. I can recover here. I'll stay at the mansion. I'll stay out of missions—"
"It's not safe," Jaeda interrupted, her tone clipped. "Even within the mansion, the risks are too high. You've already been targeted once. I won't take that chance again."
Andrea's mouth opened to protest, but the look on Jaeda's face silenced her. Jaeda had made up her mind, and nothing Andrea could say would change it. Without another word, Jaeda turned and left the room, leaving Andrea staring at the ceiling, frustration and defeat washing over her.
Jaeda had barely stepped into the hallway when a piercing scream ripped through the air. She immediately turned toward the source of the sound, her boots clicking sharply against the floor as she made her way to where the group had gathered.
"D-did she not make it?" Victoria's trembling voice echoed as Jaeda approached. The sight of Andrea's room stripped of her belongings had left the group in a collective state of shock and despair.
Jaeda cleared her throat, making her presence known. "Andrea's stuff is cleared out because I'm sending her home."
The announcement hit the group like a ton of bricks. Victoria's face twisted with raw emotion as she let out a choked sob. "You're what?" she yelled, her voice cracking. "You can't do that!"
Haechan stood frozen, his expression a mix of disbelief and devastation. Tears welled up in his eyes as he shook his head. Renjun clapped a hand over his mouth, his attempts to hold back his tears failing miserably.
