Chapter 65: The Architect VS. Satan
Darkness. Not the absence of light, but the presence of something deeper, something that moves, whispers, and watches. The air is thick, ancient, alive with echoes of defiance and rebellion. And at the center of it all— him.
A throne of obsidian and fire. Eyes that have seen the first light and the last shadow. A smirk that has tempted gods, shattered saints, and unraveled the strongest wills.
Satan.
He watches as a figure steps forward into his dominion—calm, unshaken. A being that should not be here, yet is.
The Architect.
Satan leans forward, fingers interlocked.
SATAN:
"Tell me... why are you here?"The Architect does not answer immediately. He looks around—not in fear, not in awe, but in assessment. Measuring. Understanding.
THE ARCHITECT:
"Because you interest me."A chuckle. Low, amused, dangerous.
SATAN:
"Is that so? And what exactly do you think you see?"The Architect takes another step. There is no fear, no hesitation—only design.
THE ARCHITECT:
"I see someone who lost the war, yet built a kingdom from the ashes. I see defiance wrapped in sorrow, conviction fueled by regret. I see a being who rejected the Architect of all things, yet imitates Him more than he cares to admit."For the first time in eons, Satan’s smirk falters.
SATAN:
"Careful. You tread on thin ground."The Architect tilts his head slightly.
THE ARCHITECT:
"You misunderstand. I am not here to judge. I am here because I understand you. You saw a system and you rejected it. You saw an equation and you tried to rewrite it. That is the nature of creation, of design. In a way..." (he gestures to the infernal empire around them) "...this is your masterpiece."Silence. A long, charged pause. Then—laughter.
A deep, real laugh.
Satan stands from his throne, stepping forward, his presence suffocating to lesser beings. But the Architect? He remains unmoved.
SATAN:
"You are either a fool or the most dangerous thing to ever exist. Which is it?"The Architect smiles.
THE ARCHITECT:
"What do you think?"And for the first time, Satan does not have an answer.
