Chapter 68: The Architect VS Satan CONT'D
A silence follows. A thick, heavy silence that even Hell itself seems to acknowledge.
Satan's expression is unreadable, his gaze locked onto the Architect.
Then, he speaks.
SATAN:
"And if I could?"His voice is quieter now. Less fire, less spectacle.
The Architect simply watches him.
THE ARCHITECT:
"Then you are not as lost as you pretend to be."Satan chuckles, shaking his head. It is not his usual, booming laughter—it is something lower, something edged with something almost… tired.
SATAN:
"You assume I pretend."The Architect takes a step forward. The flames on the ground around them ripple, but do not burn him.
THE ARCHITECT:
"No. I assume you remember."Satan exhales, and for the first time, his wings lower slightly. The shadows that coil around his hands retreat just a little.
There is no audience here.
No grand stage. No war to win.
Just the two of them.
SATAN:
"What do you want, Architect?"The Architect considers the question. He does not rush the answer.
Then—
THE ARCHITECT:
"To see."Satan raises an eyebrow.
SATAN:
"See what?"The Architect steps forward again.
THE ARCHITECT:
"If the Devil himself ever wonders… if he could have been something else."Satan goes still.
The flames around them flicker.
For the first time in an eternity—he has no answer.
