At least she had a home. At least Jisoo had a roof for her to take a rest. At least she had flowing water to shower her with new hope and cleanse her from the smell of smoke and dust from the dirty street traffics. At least she had a set of lunch ready on the table. At least she had her caring family at home, waiting for her to come back.
However, that thought of her family creeped and burdened her back even further. She couldn't bear the thought of stepping inside her house with a terrible news of her not being able to be interviewed, let alone asking a little bit of money to buy a new phone because she lost hers. Although the only logical thing for her to do was to ride back home, all she felt was dread as she cycled through the busy streets, carrying bad news in her mind like a crow sitting by the window of someone's death bed.
She knew her mother would never be angry with her. She knew her stepfather wouldn't scowl at her. She knew her parents would not scold her. She knew that Chaeyoung would be empathetical and try to entertain her with her sly jokes and a couple beer cans. But that's what scared her the most: the amount of disappointment she would bring to her house the moment her body caught a breath in it.
So, she left the building to nowhere, fleeing the scene with faith lost and lifeless eyes. Her legs just passionately pushed and cycled and cycled. Somehow, it led her to an abandoned house, where the vines and the ivy had crawled all over the walls.
There, she sat in front of the gates, crying her heart out loudly. She didn't need to be bold anymore, since no one was around. So, she just threw tantrums like she was a child, knowing that was the only thing for her to be able to do to release her stress and emotions. It was the only time place where and when she was able to cope in that way.
She finally blew up. There were tons of burdens she carried on her shoulder, as an older sister, as the oldest daughter, as a part of the society, and even as an individual. She never really cried it out, except for those lonely dull nights where she could not sleep after thinking so much about the things she had to think about. The world was always overwhelming for her, but she could only keep it to herself, knowing the moment she crumbles down, everyone who had held their hopes on her like an oath would crumble down as well. As much as she cared about everyone around her, it got to a point where it was deadly exhausting. It felt like a slow death, like she was actually being burned from the inside out.
Her sadness didn't just come from that one moment, but from all the dominoes falling apart that lead her into that moment. Perchance, a miracle-like she would always joke about those sudden rags to riches-wouldn't be so awful.
It went down for some while. She didn't recognize it until the sun almost sank down and the sky became a bit darker than when she arrived. Even the humidly hot air had cooled down by the time she almost finished sobbing her ripped heart out.
"Hey."
Jisoo looked up. Her eyes were bloodshot red and glossy from tears. Her face was a mess. Her cheeks were also red and wet from the tears that rolled down. Under her nose was also red from the irritation caused by the snot. Her lips were pale and dry. Her breaths were still catching up, while she still sobbed a little, not being able to abruptly stop.
There was this woman who stood in front of her. She was far from poise and elegant, but one look was enough to tell that she was not poor. She seemed really cool, like a rockstar. With a black leather jacket, a white shirt, a pair of navy blue jeans, and a pair of laced boots, she carried herself with confidence yet compassion towards Jisoo's current state.
She was beautiful. Her eyes were like crescent moons. Her cheeks were full and plump. Her skin was a little tan. Her hair was long, straight, and cherry red. When she smiled, her gums showed, along with a line of bright white orderly teeth. She seemed a little to perfect to be true, yet still felt as ordinary and approachable.
