For a brief moment, life was good.

Jennie became Jisoo's refuge. There was nothing in the world that Jennie wasn't willing to give Jisoo, but she simply gave her a job offer as a social media manager of her dad's business Instagram account. She knew giving too much would make Jisoo feel like she owed Jennie a lot, but taking some of her burdens would help ease her instead.

Jisoo became Jennie's joy. For a while, every time they spent felt like ecstasy. There was nothing in the world that Jisoo wasn't willing to tell Jennie, but she simply sat by her side while Jennie painted, enough by lulling her with stories and her presence. She became somewhat a muse to Jennie and whatnot. She knew that she couldn't give enough to satisfy someone who probably could buy anything she wanted in the world like Jennie, but she could give her priceless time and energy.

The two worked well, like there was this hidden synergy from the start. They bonded over their love of cats and Marvel movies. During the weekdays, they would end their days by FaceTiming each other at night until they both fell asleep. During the weekends, they would hang out, or just chill in and vibe while watching movies or playing Minecraft.

Over time, hand holds became waist grips. Fingers started to intertwine. Little hugs became cuddles. And time disappeared along the way.

Slowly, their hearts started to take over the way they talked to each other, looked at each other, touched one another, and yearned for one another. Like there was no space between them.

For a while, Jisoo felt her pain being lifted up a little. With Jennie, they carried the burdens together, so Jisoo didn't feel exhausted from keeping it all by herself. There was this relief, even though not all the pain was taken and washed away.

And for the same while, Jennie felt a little less lonely. Having Jisoo by her side gave her what seemed like joy and that feeling of content. Her heart no longer burned like it used to. There was this hope, and it didn't feel like it was slipping away from her hands anymore.

It was the best of times.

The warmth of the summer slowly slipped away towards the breeze of autumn. Colder days came by, but their hearts warmed each other. As they wrapped one another with that feeling-they still couldn't call love yet-they moved along with the world, taking small and big steps as it spun.

The season of sundresses and beaches went away. People no longer did picnics in gardens nor barbeques at nights. There was something a lot more sentimental in the season where the brown dying leaves started to fall down, scattering every path people walked on. There was something a lot softer that kept the people still, as they watched the once green trees dry up.

Jennie and Jisoo introduced each other as best friends to their family and friends. Lisa liked Jisoo a lot. She even personally asked Jisoo if she wanted to become a model for her beauty clinic and since both parties agreed, they signed Jisoo up into an agency. Chaeyoung was so excited to learn guitar from Jennie. She even bought a brand new guitar from her savings so she could be taught by Jennie, and they did covers together to be uploaded in YouTube.

Their closeness was cherished by not just them, but the people around them.

Every once in a while, Jisoo would be taken to Jennie's family dinners. Jennie's parents absolutely loved Jisoo, especially how charismatic she brought herself and the way Jisoo carved a smile on their daughter's lips. Jennie's mom didn't judge her family's positions, but instead offered to help her with career and education for both her and Chaeyoung. Jennie's dad was quite the quiet one, but he silently gave Jisoo pocket money whenever they met.

Meanwhile, Jennie attended "sermons" with Jisoo's family. While Jisoo's parents were strictly Catholics, they were open minded about same-sex relationships. Sometimes, after those time they spent together, Jisoo's mom would hand Jennie some warm home cooked meals for Jennie to heat up and eat at home. Jisoo's dad would also talk and joke around with Jennie, bonding through political views and the economic state of the world.
