"No, babes, I mean it's a total valid and reasonable crashout, so I think it's called pouring your heart out to a stranger because I wouldn't tell anyone anyways and you deserved to be understood but not judged." Jennie smiled again. "Besides, you seem like you're downplaying your own pain just because others probably had it much more terrible than you do. Just because someone's having it worse than you do doesn't mean your pain isn't important and worth to be acknowledged and healed. You deserve to not feel that pain."
There was a small pause. Those daring words uttered from Jennie's mouth, although not much, jabbed Jisoo right into her heart.
"I always think that a part of caring about others is caring about yourself as well. Without it, you'll just become a slowly ticking bomb, waiting for you to ruin everything you cared for anyways."
Jennie was right and Jisoo agreed. However, her living conditions had made her forget about wanting to care about herself anymore.
"Here," she uttered, handing Jisoo a small caramel candy, wrapped in off white paper. "Maybe, this can help lift your mood a little."
That caramel candy was quite the simple gift. It was not much really. But the sincere gesture itself and how thoughtful it was had made it so special, knowing the intentions was only to help Jisoo not feel as bad. It's not what could solve her problems right away, but it's part of the little thing that was the source of strength she needed anyways. Besides, maybe it's a way for destiny to tell her that everything was going to be alright. Perhaps, it was fated for her, even unbeknownst to Jennie that that caramel candy was Jisoo's source of comfort since her childhood.
"Thank you."
"No problem."
Jennie stood up, offering her hand to Jisoo. With still shaking legs, Jisoo stood up anyways.
"Feeling a little lighter now?"
Jisoo nodded. This time, a small smile could even curve on her lips.
"Good." Jennie looked at Jisoo with a heartfelt gaze. Her comforting presence wrapped Jisoo up with an accepting tenderness-which left Jisoo feeling... complicated. "Ah, do you want to get something to eat? Don't worry, it's on me."
To be completely honest, Jisoo's stomach was already rumbling, so her heart was eager to say 'yes' immediately. However, she would feel horrible to burden this stranger even more.
"No, you wouldn't be a burden," said Jennie, before letting Jisoo answer, as if she could Jisoo's mind. "This is my offer anyways."
"Ah, I think my mom had already cooked dinner for me, so I would feel bad if I don't eat her meals."
"I see." Jennie nodded. "But at least let me drop you off somewhere near your house. Cycling in this hour in this area might cost your life... based on my friend's experiences."
Before Jisoo could speak a word, Jennie already pressed the button on her car keys, which caused the silver Hyundai Stargazer across them to beep instantly.
"I'm-"
Jennie took Jisoo by her wrist, while her other hand carried Jisoo's bike and bag. "Let's just go. I don't want to fight men again. They're tiring." As they walked towards Jennie's car, Jisoo finally saw the bruises on Jennie's arm that was absolutely caused by those kinds of fights.
As they both entered the car and Jennie started the engine, there were noises of motorcycles behind them, with annoying flickering lights and smokes following them. Instantly, they fled the scene, not feeling like in the mood to interfere those brazen dudes.
"I'm sorry for forcing you here," apologized Jennie as her car entered the main road. "But that was necessary otherwise you could-"
"You just saved both of us." Jisoo gulped her own spit and bit her lips. "I'm the one who's supposed to be sorry for not listening to you sooner."
"Meh, it's alright," stated Jennie, "You're smart for not trusting strangers immediately, because you never know what people intent to do with you. But I'm pretty much... trustworthy, huh? I guess?"
Jisoo let out a little chuckle.
"You're really pretty when you laugh like that."
It was such a surprising compliment that it took Jisoo aback. Sure, she did hear those compliments a lot from boys and girls who had feelings for her, or from her bothersome sister whenever she wanted pocket money. But that compliment came out of nowhere from someone whom she just met, and the fact that it sounded so pure made her heart thump in shock.
"I mean, you already look very much lovely, but seeing you laugh after crying like that felt like such a relief." Oh that gentleness in her tone.
For a stranger to care that much could only mean that she was not just being nice, but was actually nice.
"Thank you. You're also really pretty." Jisoo was not lying as well. The moment she saw Jennie, she was pretty much star struck, if not for the lots of things going in her head.
For each other, they left quite an impression. Truly, a bliss.
"Do you want to play somemusic?"
