You groan as you see Josh Manky put up the school dance poster in the cafeteria. Immediately some girls rush up to him to ask him to the dance, but you just roll your eyes and look back at the food on your plate.

"What's up with you?" Ron, your best friend, asks you.

"It's the school dance this Friday." You tell him.

"Oh yeah!"

Ron puts a piece of corn on his spoon and flicks it up into the air for Rufus to catch.

"Who are you going to ask?" Ron asks you, after high-fiving his pet naked molerat.

"No one." You say bluntly.

"What?"

Even Rufus turns to look at you with a confused and surprised expression.

"I'm not going." You say.

"Why not?" Asks Ron.

"Because the school dance is totally lame. Besides, I don't know anyone worth going with."

"What about me?"

"Ron, your my best friend."

"Yeah, so?"

"So, if I were to go I'd want to go with someone on a date." You tell him.

"A date, right." Ron says, "A dating like a date like date, kind of way. Uh-huh."

You roll your eyes with a smile.

"Are you going with Kim again?" You ask him.

"No, she's going to ask Josh Manky." Ron shudders.

Rufus pokes his tongue out and mimics Josh's name.

"You'd think she'd have better taste." You say, "So then who are going to ask?"

"You mean like on a date... or as an enemy?" Ron looks petrified at his last statement.

"A date, you moron." You laugh.

"Oh right, the dating like a date thing. I can do that, no problem. For me to get a date, who am I not going to ask?"

Rufus and you both chuckle as Ron sweeps his hair back.

"Target number one." He says, looking behind you.

You turn around to see one of the cheerleaders by herself near the canteen. Ron puts Rufus in his pocket and then strides over to the cheerleader. You can't hear anything but you immediately laugh as the cheerleader shoves him away from her and walks out of the cafeteria.

"See, was that so hard?" Ron asks you, after walking back to the table.

"Only to watch." You laugh.

For the whole week Ron had been asking various girls at the school to go on a date with him to the dance. He even aparently, as Kim says, asked out some girls during their mission at Tokyo. That made you laugh.
