Grass is nice. It's nice to look at. Nice to touch. Nice to roll around in. Way to go, grass.
Here, on this hill, is one of the few places you find peace. It's quiet. It's beautiful. No one is bothering you about homework or relationships or setting the table for dinner. Here it's just you and the wind. And the grass. Can't forget the grass.
You don't know how long you've been sitting here, staring up at the sky. To be honest, you don't really care either. You love to watch the clouds. Sometimes a pig with wings would fly by, but that was only normal. They live around these hills anyway.
There's a feeling on your skin and you look down to see a caterpillar making its way up your arm. You smile down at it.
"Hello, George. How are you?" You ask.
"I'm as good as can be." He replies, "How are you, (Y/n)?"
"Happy."
"Well, that's fantastic."
You chuckle and delve into conversation with the caterpillar. Time flies by, but you can tell that the two of you have been talking for a while.
"Oh, have a visitor, I see." George announces.
You turn around to see a boy standing further up the hill, looking at you. Your eyebrows furrow when suddenly you're standing right in front of him.
"What are you doing here?" You ask.
"I'm not sure." He admits.
The two of you stare at each other, then he extends his arm to you.
"Ice cream?" He asks, with the desert cone in his hand.
"No, thank you." You say, yet you take the ice cream and eat it anyway.
"It's great how we don't get brain freezes here, isn't it?" He says.
"What?"
He smiles and then he's gone. Then so is the hill. You turn on your side to see your alarm clock flashing and groan as you turn it off. What a waste of a dream.
At school you're too bored to really pay attention in class. You'd listen every now and then, but then you'd start daydreaming. Unfortunately you've forgotten the dream you had this morning. You remember the hill, but nothing else. That sucks because you enjoy writing your dreams down in your dream journal. So far all you've written on the page is, 'Sat on a hill with really nice grass.'
When you go to bed that night you hope to awake on the hill again, but you don't. This time you're at the beach. The waves lap around your ankles as your feet sink into the damp sand. Behind you is a carnival where laughter and music can be heard. You prefer being on the beach, however. It's quiet here.
A shiver rushes through you and you turn around. Within the crowds of the carnival stands a boy, looking at you. He seems familiar. When you try to walk over to him, your feet sink into the sand. You're becoming slower as you sink deeper. Before your head goes under, a hand reaches over and pulls you out.
You expect to land on the beach again, but now you're in the carnival. And he's there too. Holding your hand. Looking at you.
"Why are you here?" You ask.
"I wanted to see you." He says.
"Why?"
"Intrigue, I guess."
