You weren't sure what to say or what to do. You weren't sure what to ask and what to leave unspoken. You weren't even sure if your staring at him wasn't incredibly inappropriate.
Kai didn't say a thing either. He was just sitting there, entirely covered in blood. He had avoided looking at you, he had not explained anything, he had not tried to touch you either.
"Come, let's clean you up." You walked towards the bathroom and with slow steps Kai was following you. You placed a towel on a seat and you put him down while you filled the sink with warm water. "I've just washed the towels, so I hope they're nice and soft." You rambled and you dipped your washcloth into the water before you grabbed the soap.
Kai still didn't say a thing. He just sat there and stared at your hands, avoiding your words, your looks. He took the washcloth from you and he carefully moved it over his face. But the blood he washed away, didn't wash away the silence.
You took the cloth from him again and dipped it into the water, seeing how it turned red right away. This time you didn't give him the cloth. You moved it over his cheeks and his neck. "I had a lovely day today. I read one of my favorite books. Do you want to hear about it?" You licked your lips and for the first time Kai looked up at you.
"Yes, fine, just tell me about your book." He relaxed a little and while you started talking about your book, you continued cleaning his skin until the proof of whatever he had been doing was completely gone.
