(Y/N), stop. You don't know what you're doing. Just take a second to think about what you're about to do.
I pushed the voice and dashed in receiving just the reaction I wanted...
Their petrified screams. Oh, how glorious it was to my ears. It almost made up for the amount of times I heard myself cry when my parents were taken away...
Almost.
I started my attack. And the people who were too shocked to stand still, I merely bit them. I wasn't aiming for killing, just injuring...not yet, anyway.
And suffice to say, it was quite satisfying.
I continued to growl and attack any idiot who still remained at the square.
The castle guards came along and tried to attack me with their steel spears, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. As soon as they would try and jab me, I simply hopped from each spear, kicking them in the stomach with my hind legs.
"My, my, what have we here? A demon hound?"
I am no demon.
I turned on my hind legs as my golden eyes searched the premises.
"I expected better from you, Alevina."
Only a handful amount of people knew me by that name, and a majority of them were either not around me or hidden. And by the sound of his voice, my ears already knew...
It was Link.
He bent down to my height and gently stroked my fur. His bright orange eyes looked into my wolf ones.
I growled and he only chuckled. When I had noticed my surroundings, everything was dark and time had seemed to stop. Those dark particles that filled the twilight air filled Castle Town's square.
"I was so foolish to never realize that Alevina and you were the same person. How was I not able to piece together such a beautiful person to such a beautiful wolf?"
I backed away from him. Link was way bolder than he ever had been before being consumed by the darkness. And the thing that troubled me was whether or not it was his dark side speaking or his actual self.
This Link was open with his feelings and it made me feel quite uneasy.
And why was he even here? He said he would give me time to prepare before fighting him again, didn't he? And only a mere couple of hours is obviously not enough.
"Dear, (Y/N)," he smiled almost too innocently, "I do hope you know that I can read your thoughts if I wanted to. And it just so happened that I decided to hear two specific ones. The first one being as to why I am here, correct?"
I could only stare at him in silence.
"Well, I'm not here to fight with you yet, (Y/N). I want it to be fair." He approached me and grabbed my nuzzle. His force was too strong for me to even try and escape. It was like I was drawn to him or something.
"And secondly..."
He snapped his finger and I was immediately transformed into my human self, clothed obviously, in my cloak and usual attire.
"...I am much bolder as you have already observed. And it is not the darkness that speaks, but myself. It's just that, in this form, I am able to truly express myself without holding back."
"Let me go," I said under grit teeth. As much as I tried to release myself from his grasp, it were as if some force was keeping me in my position.
"I am here to simply ask, dearest (Y/N), have you reconsidered ruling with me?" He grinned a sinister grin. It was almost hard not to squirm. With a grin like that, he could buy anyone. It held innocence, but if you knew him well, you would be able to see right through.
"Nothing you can say or do will make me change my mind, Link. I will never accept that offer of yours."
Did he honestly think I would turn my back against Hyrule? I mean, sure, just awhile ago, I was attacking Castle Town, but that was only a small place. It didn't mean I wanted revenge on the whole world.
Link sighed and his fingers started to grace my cheeks, tilting my head upwards to him. He smiled again, more gently than the last. "That's quite a shame, (Y/N). It really is quite a shame. You know, you attacking these people makes you no better than me. We're actually very similar when it comes down to it."
Could he please stop speaking for just one darn minute? I wanted to get out of his grasp already before the situation got weird or something.
"You're uncomfortable, aren't you, (Y/N)?" Link leaned a bit forward lessening the distance between us until he was inches from my face. "Shall I make you even more uncomfortable?"
He leaned in, brushing his lips against mine, but I couldn't help but crack a smile. There was something I read quite long ago if this ever occurred. It was rather ridiculous to be something as cliche as this, but nonetheless, it worked.
"You're not going to do it, Link. I know you aren't because we both know what would happen."
The Twili frowned after exhaling and finally released me from his touch. "You're smart, (Y/N), as expected from someone who's been into dark magic. As much as my senses are just dying to kiss your lips, that would be bad for me."
A kiss was all I needed to break this spell. I had remembered it before my attacking spree as I ran through the fields. But it's not as simple as others may think. It could either go one of two ways. One, I could easily remove the darkness from his system. And two, some of his power gets transferred to me. There was a third result, but I'd rather not go there.
Of course, I couldn't just kiss him on the spot. He needed to be weakened first before I took action. That way, he would have no strength to fight against my own powers. And before the kiss, he needed a specific blow to the heart; that was the most dangerous thing of all. I could easily kill him if I made a simple error and pierced too far...
And that was my fear...
...Accidentally killing him.
"Until then, (Y/N). I can't wait to see what will happen." He created a portal and was about to walk through when I tugged onto his cloak.
There was a question I needed to ask him and I wanted to know his answer.
"Why would you keep me alive if you very well knew I could possibly kill you in the end?"
His back remained to me. "It's the only chance I have at getting you to be with me. The previous Link was far too shy and nervous to even say that, so I am only helping in a way. I am relaying the feelings that he couldn't before."
His answer left me awestruck. The only way he could be with me? Was it because of that? That was a bit too idiotic of a response for me.
"W-why...would you do that?" I said with a voice surprisingly low. I felt even worse now knowing that I was the cause of all this trouble.
"You became too occupied with other things, (Y/N). I didn't want Zant to take you as well, so I did what needed to be done. I'd rather this happen to me, then have him take you away."
That hurt me a lot more than expected.
"You killing me is a risk I am willing to take."
I knew then...
I needed to save him.
