In a World of Twilight (Link x Reader)

Flashback

"Caeus, before you leave, take this."

The Twili man was handed a tiny pendant with a small silver jewel and a chain that was intentionally made to camouflage and blend with his skin. The man could easily tell that much effort was put into this intricate item.

"What is this for?" Caeus asked as he placed the jewel around his neck and tucked it under his cloak, enough for it to be well hidden. "Knowing you, (Y/N), even if it was for a short time, I know this isn't a sign of our partnership."

The girl only laughed. She was taking a liking to this Twili man. He was like the older brother she had always wanted. "Yeah. I guess you're right."

"In a way, you could consider it like that," the only other male spoke. It was (Y/N)'s father. "But it actually is for your safety and to conceal the fact that you've been in contact with us. It would be rather dangerous for all of us if Link where to ever find out."

"Because he still has the senses of the wolf," Midna spoke. And it shocked the rest of the company a bit being that she did not speak a single word since his arrival. But something in her had finally convinced her that this was now her reality. "That pendant, Caeus, will help to cover up all of our scents, because as I mentioned earlier, he still has the senses of a wolf."

"Will he be able to tell I am lying to him about where I've been?"

This was the only thing that troubled him. Earlier, (Y/N) was able to see that Caeus had been lying about his age. Other than the fact she already knew about the incredibly old ages people of their status held, it was no doubt her wolf senses picked up on it.

(Y/N) actually scoffed for once. She was never really one to mock people, but she found it appropriate to the moment. And she also knew that doing so would put the Twili man at ease.

"You're flattering your ruler, Caeus. He's only been a wolf for a short period of time so he's only picked up on the basic wolf characteristics and senses. I, on the other hand, have much more experience as a wolf and that is why I am able to pick up on such things. You've nothing to fear, unless, Link somehow finds that necklace you're wearing."

"He's actually quite familiar with the pattern of the necklace, Caeus," Midna added in, "He's been to the weapon shop and actually used the (L/N) family's weapons. He may of forgotten it, but just even a slight peek at that pendant, and everything will flood back to his memories. You really need to be careful."

"Caeus, honey," the mother of (Y/N) spoke as she handed the violet haired man something wrapped in cloth. It felt warm and smelled like something edible. "We didn't really get much of a chance to feed you since you came, so please, take this with you. The pendant will mask the scent as well. In fact, the pendant will mask anything and everything associated with us, including the forest. But of course, just to make it seem like you're doing your job, we've included another specific scent as well."

Caeus couldn't help but smile at the family's hospitality. It was like he was a part of them. And he also couldn't help but be beyond amazed at how extremely intelligent and resourceful they were.

They thought of everything and anything. For any conflict, they would come up with a solution, even if it took a bit of time.

And that's what they did when they discussed how Caeus would assist them in bringing Link down. How long it took varied between options, but they opted for the one that would take the least amount of time because Caeus informed them that Link was acting quickly.

And the sooner they acted, the better.

"Come back soon, Caeus. And tell us whatever progress you've made."
