I cracked a chuckle, a smug look still on my face. "Stop joking around, Link. Get to the chase. I'm sure you have minions around and I need to make sure that they don't do anymore damage."
Link only smiled and approached me. He placed a hand on my scepter and placed it down, indicating he had no intentions of fighting me, at least, for the moment that is. "I just wanted to reminisce. And I just wanted to see you, my dear."
I could not deny the feeling in the pit of my stomach whenever he called me those names. And I never could deny the feeling since the start, but I still needed to save Link and change him back.
"You didn't have to do it by ruining the place, Link."
He emitted a small laughter, using his powers to fix the broken pillars. He leaned closer to my face, fixating his gaze directly onto mine. "I don't know how my visor managed to find that little bag of yours. But it will not work. It will not weaken me."
When he mentioned visor, I mentally questioned myself as to who that was. But then I remembered he was referring to Caeus. And as far as Link knew, I was supposed to have no idea of who Caeus was.
"Is that so, Link?" I smirked, "Believe what you want, but I can read it in your eyes and they say something other than your mouth."
He whispered into my ear, "Can your eyes also read how much I want to kiss you?"
"Link, tsk, tsk. We both know your powers would be drained if you do so."
"I know you still care for me, (Y/N). So why don't you do you and your family a favor and just come along with me to the future kingdom?" He offered me a hand and I declined it.
"No, Link. What you're doing is wrong. I will not allow for this to happen. I know I am at fault for why you are like this and I know I am the one who must fix this." My words had started out boldly but had unintentionally fallen to a whisper.
"I blame myself everyday because of what I've made you into. I swear to you, Link, I will save you."
I clenched my fists and looked at him, "And that's a promise!"
Link was taken aback as he looked at me. His hands were somewhat trembling and one of them reached to my eyes. Something fell atop his fingertip. The little ball shimmered in the sunlight.
It was a tear.
Specifically a tear of light.
How in the world was I actually able to produce those?
A little voice spoke in my head and the voice was undeniably Caeus's. "The ice from the ice soldier gave you that ability. I may have also may have reversed the darkness of the poe souls to give you more light magic. Told you they would come in handy."
I replied back to him telepathically, "Caeus. Did you know he would come here?"
"No, not really. But I had a strong feeling he would. Call it a visor's intuition. I'll leave you two for now. I need to check on some troops in the oasis."
Looking back to Link, I realized that the tear had remained on his fingertip for some time now until it finally dissolved, and it actually seemed to be soaked in by his skin.
Now Link would definitely be unstable. His eyes started to flash different colors and he seemed to frown, trying to keep his composure. "I think I've spent enough time here. I'll be waiting back in the Twilight. I know you'll try and stop me, and I will look forward to your attempt. But I will never stop offering you a spot as ruler alongside me."
He disappeared and I let out a deep breath, rubbing away the droplets from my eyes. Midna came out from hiding and looked at my eyes intently.
"So those things Caeus gave you makes you cry tears of light, huh?"
"I guess so," I said with a little sniffle, "But with that ability or not, I was crying literal tears."
I crouched down and washed away the emotion with the Zora water. The initial goal was to meet Link and try to revert him back in six days, now four since two days had passed, but seeing as how completely unstable he is right now, moving that goal a few days closer may probably give me an advantage.
"Midna, I've decided that we will wait only three more days. We are decreasing the wait time by one day."
She shrugged and obliged. In Midna's case, the sooner we acted, the sooner she could get her kingdom back. If she had it her way, we would have attacked straight away. But I needed the time to prepare and perfect the attack as to not end Link's life by accident.
"Let's head back and inform my parents. I'll tell Caeus the news as well right now."
Midna and I made our way out the domain and I telepathically contacted Caeus.
"How are the troops at the oasis?"
Even though he was speaking with his mind, I could feel the fatigue from him. "A little difficult, (Y/N). But everything is under control. Perhaps I'll be done within a day and a half or so. Maybe just a day."
"Okay, well, handle them quickly because I've decreased the wait time to three days instead of four."
Something seemed off in the waves sent to me, but his speech was clear enough to disregard it. "It seems a bit too soon if we decrease the wait time by one day, doesn't it?"
"Not really. Link seems really unstable now and it seems to be at our advantage if we make the attack sooner. Besides, the only thing we're working on are my attacks so that I don't make a mistake."
He seemed hesitant. "Alright, (Y/N). I may or may not be late due to the situation of Link's troops as of late. But I'll be sure to meet you there as soon as I'm done."
"Sounds like a plan. I'll see you then."
With that, the telepathic conversation ended. Caeus was off in the oasis and Midna and I were heading back to the grove.
"What did Caeus say? Was he fine with it?" Midna asked.
"Of course he was. He seemed hesitant for some reason, but I think it'll all turn out fine."
