[you]

While Justice, Josh, and Tyler sorted through the paper, you had to go to your photography class. It disappointed you, especially because you wanted to see what Tyler thought of your name. Or maybe you wouldn't say anything.

But it didn't matter. You'd see them later tonight, at the concert.

You walked down Main Avenue, heading toward your apartment complex. Your photography bag was slung over your shoulder as you balanced precariously on the edge of the curb. You liked to balance. You used to be in gymnastics.

Suddenly, you heard a whistle to your left. Your head snapped in that direction and your eyes fell on a tall, muscular man who smelled like booze and needed a shave.

"Hey babe," he said, winking. The hair on the back of your neck bristled and you resisted the urge not to gag. You kept walking and ignored him.

"I said," came the voice, getting closer to her, "hey, babe." Hostility sparked in his tone as he moved way to close for comfort. "What do you say you and I get out of here and grab a beer?"

You tried to choke out a no, but your panic closed your throat up.

"Good," he nodded, throwing an arm around you and leading you toward and alley, where a rotting wooden door was left open and you could smell beer and hear the chatter of a bar.

Anxiety clawed its way into your limbs and you couldn't seem to move.

Right as the two of you reached the door, a voice sounded from behind you.

"Excuse me."

The voice was unfamiliar.

The man with his arm around you turned, and you could see the guy bristling with anger.

"That is my girlfriend," he spat. Your cheeks flushed as you looked at him. You had no idea who he was.

The man looked the guy up and down, slowly releasing his arm from around you. He cracked his knuckles and got into an offensive stance, smirking at the guy who just saved you.

His eyes shifted to you, and he mouthed, run.

You shuffled around, out of the alley, but you didn't leave. Instead, you called the cops.

The bigger man threw the first punch as the officer picked up.

"Nine-one-one, what's your emergency?"

"Two mean are getting in a fistfight in an alley on Main Avenue, next to Clergy's," you warbled, trying to keep the panic from your voice.

"Thank you, ma'am. We'll be there as soon as we can." The phone clicked.

You glanced back at the fight and nearly gagged. The muscular guy had the other in a choke hold as he repeatedly punched him in the stomach. The other already had a bloody nose, and you tried to ignore his hand, which was facing the wrong way.

"Stop!" you shouted. The man hesitated, and the guy struggled from his grasp and collapsed on the pavement, purple already forming around his eye.

Suddenly, sirens could be heard, and the man darted into the bar. You rushed to the guy's side.

"Are you okay? Oh, my gosh -"

"I thin . . ."

But he didn't finish, because his eyes rolled into the back of his head and he slumped into your arms. You screamed.

Everything else happened in a flash.

The police arrived and you told them where the man went, and the other guy was hauled into an ambulance.

You wanted to go with him, but they didn't let you, and instead you went with the police for questioning.

You told them everything through sobs. You couldn't imagine that you'd almost been -

If the guy hadn't -

You had a panic attack that night.
