You were deep in your slumber when you heard a tapping on the window in your bedroom that effectively woke you up. Octavious growled lowly but you hushed him and climbed out of bed, praying you wouldn't alert Claude--who was on the first floor of the mansion cleaning--of your awakening.
You yawned and rubbed the sleep from your eyes before leaning over and pushing open the window. Unsurprisingly, Sebastian floated into the room and landed next to you with elegance accompanied by a bright smile.
"What can I do for you at this time of night?" you whispered.
"I wanted to inform you that our troubles will be gone by the morning, my dear," he replied gently.
You were now fully awake. "What do you mean?"
Sebastian grinned. "I went to Hell and spoke with some other demons about a ritual that I can perform and that is all I'm going to tell you. I simply need you to allow Claude to come to the Phantomhive Manor tomorrow at dawn to execute the plan."
"Okay," you said, nodding.
You were hesitant and somewhat skeptical of whatever Sebastian had planned but you knew you had to trust him to take care of the situation, although you hated not being in the loop.
"What if it doesn't go well? What will happen then?" you asked.
Sebastian brought up his hands and rested them on the sides of your face, then mumbled, "Do not concern yourself with it; I'm sure this will go off perfectly and we will be together for eternity."
"Sounds like a proposal," you muttered.
"Take it however you please," he responded, leaning down and kissing your lips.
You closed your eyes and savored the feel of being so intimate and close with Sebastian even though you hated the power he was becoming to wield over you, but if he thought you were going to submit to your mate, he was in for a rude awakening.
Sebastian left moments later, but before you had the chance to shut the window and sneak back to bed, the door to your room burst open with Claude standing in the doorway holding a candle and a stern look plastered on that told you he had a suspicion of that was going on.
"What are you doing in my chambers? You know you are not permitted in this part of the house," you said in a clipped tone.
"I heard voices and feared you were in danger, Miss," he answered innocently.
You grit your teeth. "Get out."
Claude smirked and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Very well, just know that whatever you are planning with Sebastian, it will not work."
"You know nothing; not compassion, not integrity, not humility. You are nothing compared to Sebastian and you never will be. You're a sad excuse for a demon and you will never understand what Sebastian and I have," you barked. "Now, I will say it one more time: Get. Out."
In a swift movement, you were pinned against the wall with Claude's hand wrapped around your throat. Your bare toes were skimming the floor and your oxygen was thinning in your lungs but you were not about to let him win, so you glared daggers into his ominous eyes without regard for what could happen to your life at any second.
"Humans," Claude hissed, baring his fangs. "Such confident and delicious creatures. Sometimes I wonder how Sebastian controls himself because all I want to do to you is--"
Before he could finish, Claude went flying backward and tumbled across the room. You fell to the ground, coughing and trying to catch the breath you had lost.
Sebastian crouched down in front of you and slowly helped you up, then whipped around, eyes blazing red and growled at the other demon in the most threatening manner. Claude climbed to his feet and the two stood against each other while you gripped Sebastian's arm and moved to stand beside him because you would not be seen as the damsel in distress.
"I knew you would come," Claude sneered.
"Then why would you try to hurt her?" Sebastian inquired, his voice calmer than you thought it would be.
"I wanted to see how long it would take you to get here, because the faster you come, the more you care. I was testing you," Claude revealed.
"Testing me for what?"
Claude chuckled. "The ritual you are planning to bargain. I wanted to see first hand how far you are willing to go for your mate and you did not disappoint."
"Now that you know, how about we get this over with?" Sebastian offered stiffly.
"What's the ritual?" you interjected.
Claude went to answer, but you saw how Sebastian's gaze made him stop. It both surprised and worried you because Claude never resisted the opportunity to say something.
"Don't want her to know?" Claude questioned smugly.
"You hardly know what I am willing to offer in exchange for her soul, so do not attempt to be all-knowing," Sebastian warned.
"Very well," Claude said. "Let us get this over with then."
Claude turned and exited the room with Sebastian going to follow but you tugged him back before he could.
"What are you planning to do?" you asked, concerned.
"What I must," Sebastian whispered.
"Nothing is worth sacrificing for me, Seb."
Sebastian grasped your hands in his and stared into your (E/C) orbs. "You are worth everything, (Y/N). I would cross oceans and universes just to see you smile each day. If you do not think you mean that much to me, then you're wrong. You are on my mind every second of every day and I cannot imagine what my eternal life would be like without you anymore. You are worth every risk I am willing to take and I shall never have regrets for any of it."
Sebastian himself couldn't believe how true the words had become until he said them. He was ready to fight for you to be together and stand by you in all your times of struggle. You couldn't comprehend how lucky you had become and the genuine remarks he made toward you that sounded so intensely truthful.
As Sebastian's mate, you didn't want him to give up whatever he was willing for you, but you did want him in every way possible. And as he walked out of your room to meet with Claude, you couldn't help but wonder if you had to make sacrifices as well, but would you be as willing as him?
