The Kooks- Bad Habit

Ilya:

"Father, I'd like to join the ranks if that's okay with you,"  Once again I was surrounded by pillars, marble, and wearing something incredibly inappropriate to be walking around in. The man who looks like Bruce turned to look at me and smiled.

"Are you not happy here in the palace with us, Set?"

"I am. I just- I am restless. I can't sleep most nights. My studies have surpassed what I can learn here. I just think I could be doing more with my time. Just sitting around here, it doesn't feel right," he motioned me to sit next to him.

"So, going to war at fifteen is a better option?"

"Father, you know I am not just a girl. I need more. I want you to put me out there. You don't have to favor me. I just need you to let me do this. I know if I bring this up with mother she will immediately tell me no,"

"It's not custom to send women out and it's not because we don't think you can do it but because men can be cruel creatures. You will see things out there that you may not be ready to see, ever. Things you won't be able to look the other way even if it is required of you," I lowered my head before taking in a deep breath.

"Please," I pleaded one last time. "I wish to do this with your permission. I already have my sire's blessing,"

He sat up straight, his eyes grew a little darker. He doesn't like when I mention my true father. In his eyes, he is all I have ever truly known. It had been by sheer accident that I found out I wasn't his. We don't look too different, this mortal and I. But the mention of Lugh always gets me what I want. Not out of fear, but jealousy.

"I'll get Scathach to take you into the center camps. My best general is there. I'd like you to meet him. I think the two of you can do great together. I know I don't have to tell you to keep your secret to yourself, correct?"

"No, father, you don't,"

"If one of my men ever do something to you that you are not okay with, I will behead them. You are my daughter. I don't care what god sired you. You are mine," I smiled at him as he stood up pressing a kiss to the side of my head.

I woke up in a cold sweat looking around disoriented. Hades jumped up and the bed sensing I was awake. The alarm on nightstand ready seven thirty-two. I have a whole hour before I have to actually get up. I sat up and just as I was going to get up my phone began to buzz. I lifted it to see it was Bruce.

"Hello?" I answered.

"I wasn't sure if you were awake. I was told you had an eventful night,"

"Jason and I haven't done anything," I defended.

"Please don't talk about your relationship with Jason. I will hurt him," he shot back.

"What? No. I meant we haven't done anything you wouldn't approve of. Jesus, Bruce. What the hell?"

"I'm sorry. It's just- nevermind. Are you excited for your first day of work?"

"Yeah, which is why I'm up already," I lied. "Question,"

"Go ahead,"

"What do I wear?"

"Well, you're my daughter," he said and it reminded me of my dream. "So wear something businesslike as well as elegant. I can make a few calls if all you have is T-shirts that tell the world to f-off,"

"Are you kidding me? My mother was Elizabeth McClaine. Elegant was like her life motto. I was just asking because I was able to wear casual clothes for my internship with the Queens. I know it's different now since you're the owner and I'm your daughter,"
