Chapter 9

"Lars!" I gasped. "Steven, what's going on here?! Where are we?!" he asked, before a bubble appeared on his head and muffled any speech he was saying.

"As we can see from this specimen, humans are loud, absolutely hideous creatures that serve no purpose whatsoever. What sort of Gem would turn on her own kind for this? I'll tell you what kind–" she said before pointing at me, "that kind!"

"And exhibit B," Zircon said, warping in Y/N, whose eyes landed on me. "Master!" she called, trying to run over to me before being blocked in a bubble, keeping her in place next to Lars.

"A fellow rebel gem, who might have helped with the shattering, but we do not know for sure. She also has an affinity for the human race, and is no less guilty!"

"Just let them go! They've got nothing to do with this!" I pleaded.

"There it is! The passion, the fury - that caused the diabolical Rose Quartz to... shatter her own Diamond!" Zircon said, causing silence to flood the courtroom. "But I know what you're thinking," she said, kneeling down to my height, "'This thing doesn't look like a Rose Quartz,' and for that, I'd like to call an eyewitness!"

A platform rose, and on it was the Ruby I recognized as Eyeball!

"Oh, Eyeball!" I shouted. She scrunched up her nose. "Do not address me, war criminal!" she spat. "I'm just glad you're okay," I mumbled softly.

"I heard it straight from her. She said, 'I'm the mighty Rose Quartz! I've got her shield and everything!' And then she threw me into space!" Eyeball testified. "I tried to help you! I healed your gem!" I defended. "And who else has the ability to heal gems other than the villainous Rose Quartz?!"

"And there you have it. Rose Quartz did it and that's Rose Quartz. I rest my case," said the prosecuting Zircon. "Oh, she's good..." defending Zircon muttered.

"Well, I'm convinced. Time to execute!" Yellow Diamond said. "Not yet. The defense still has to speak," said Blue Diamond.

"Right!" Zircon started, nervously, "Well uh, before I start my very... uh, thought out defense, I'd like to remind the court that Rose Quartz did turn herself in."

"The court remembers, and the court does not care," said Yellow Diamond.

"Uh, of course!" Zircon said, picking up one of her panels, "Uh, in-innocent! Uh, the word innocent can mean, oh–many different things.."

"I did it," I said and stood up on the platform. "Wha-what, what!Stop!" Zircon shrieked. "No! I want to hear what she has to say," Blue Diamond said, elevating the platform I stood upon to her height. "Uh.."

"State your name for the records, please," Yellow Pearl said. "I, um, I'm Rose Quartz," I said, lifting my shirt to expose my gem, watching as Blue squinted and Yellow seemed taken aback, "and I'm guilty."

"No, don't say that!" Zircon shouted beneath me, and I heard a muffled "Master" from Y/N.

"Everything you guys said I did, I did. And I did it by myself. And I'm sorry. I'll accept any punishment you want to give me," I said, then pointed to Y/N and Lars, "Just let them go! And leave the Earth alone."

"Ha! Sounds like a solid confession to me!" Yellow smirked.

"How? How did you do it?" Blue asked.

"Huh?"

"How did you shatter Pink Diamond?"

I was not expecting to have to answer that, but then again, maybe I should have...

"Um...well. I did it on Earth, in front of Pink Diamond's palanquin. I was probably like, "Stop!" and she was all like "No!" So we fought–I think... And she probably did some cool moves. I probably did some cool moves too, some jump kicks and stuff," I said, I saw Y/N faceoalm, "But I was most likely deeply conflicted about deciding to shatter her. Definitely crying. I probably had to use the Breaking Point to do it.."
