I stared at Lars' body in shock. I dropped next to Master, grabbing Lars' wrist, searching for a pulse, something that indicated that he was still alive.
But there was nothing. What happened, you might ask? Well, the three of us followed the Rutile Twins, the gems that had saved us, deeper into the caves, coming across a huge and abandoned Kindergarten.
We met Fluorite, Padparascha, and Rhodonite, and I had no choice but to lie that I was an off-colour like them, an off-coloured Kunzite. But the robots, the robonoids, as I found out they were called, found us. We fought them off, and found out that Ste– Master's shield deflected their shattering blasts.
In the fight, Lars was blown back from one of them exploding, and hit one of the Kindergarten walls.
"I predict that... Lars will perish..." Padparascha said.
My heart sank. He was...
"Dead..." Master murmured... I pulled Lars into my lap, tears welling up in my eyes.
"Lars... You weren't supposed to die like this..." I said, starting to sob, Master also starting to cry. I let my tears fall, holding the dead human in my arms.
I continued to cry, until a soft pink glow started to engulf Lars, my tears being absorbed into him. Me and Master watched in awe as Lars' skin turned pink, his hair almost white but with a pink tint to it. He awoke, eyes opening slowly.
"L-Lars?" Master said, questioningly. Lars sat up, holding his head, groaning quietly. "Steven? Y/n?"
"I predict it's a miracle! Lars will be resurrected!" Padparadscha exclaimed. "We thought you had died!" I said, tears welling up again, "Are you okay? Are you still hurt?" Steven asked.
"Uh, no?"
"Tired?"
"No?"
"Hungry?"
"Surprisingly, no."
I hugged Lars, laying my head on his chest to listen for his heartbeat, which was very slow.
"He's... Alive, but his heart rate is insanely slow," I said, sitting up straight again.
Master and Lars exchanged some words, but I couldn't help but stare at Lars' hair, distracted. It suddenly looked so fluffy. Almost like a cloud. I absentmindedly raised a hand up to pat his hair when my hand started to phase through. Me and Lars gasped, and I quickly retracted my hand.
"What the–" Lars said, threading his fingers through his hair, his hands not phasing through like mine did.
"Wait, Lars. Kneel down, I wanna try something," Master said. "Uh, okay...?" Lars said, getting on his knees and kneeling in front of Ste— Master.
Master then dived into Lars' head, forcing him back slightly. Master's head then popped out of Lars', shouting, "me and y/n can get back to earth through your head!""Ow, jeez, don't have to shout it, you're inside my head still, y'know.."
Master then jumped out of Lars' head with some food. I heard my stomach– wait...
"I'm... Hungry...?" I said, questioning myself. Lars looked at me, confused. "Wait, but..." he started, but was cut off by Master. "You're a gem, how are you hungry?" I shrugged, a loud roar sounding from my stomach, shortly after, Padparadscha spoke.
"Y/n's stomach is going to make a hostile sound. She's what a human would call 'hungry.'"
As an experiment, I summoned my sword, St– Master, the off-colours, and Lars watching me intently. I dragged the blade across my skin, then returned my sword to my gem, watching as a semi-clear pink liquid flowed out of the wound, then disappeared as the wound almost instantly healed.
Master looked at me, then where the cut once was, before Lars spoke.
"No way..." he said.
"What?" I asked.
"Amazing, I predict that y/n is part human! She bleeds clear blood!"
"Wait, part human?" Master asked, then looked me over. I couldn't help but to do the same thing.
Human-toned skin with a pinkish tint, h/c hair with pink tips, I summoned my sword again to look at my eyes in its reflection, seeing my e/c eyes with a distinctly diamond-shaped pupil.
I looked convincingly human, save for the gem on my chest.
"W-Wait, that's impossible," I said, "Master grew me from a gem shard, I was shattered, I was a full gem before all of this, I can't be part human!"
"We should ask Pearl about this. Maybe she has an explanation as to why you're probably part human," Master said. I nodded, looking at the other off coloured gems, then back at Lars.
"How are we bringing Lars back?"
And so, after many failed attempts, we were unable to bring Lars back to Earth.
But the off-colours said they were gonna make it to Earth, with Lars.
Me and Master returned home through Lars' head, almost instantly being smothered by the Crystal Gems and Greg.
It felt good to be back.
