Chapter 9

"It was a sword!" Blue cried, a blue aura engulfing the room and causing everybody to tear up, except Lars and Y/n, who were protected by the bubbles.

"You... shattered her... with a sword!" Blue sobbed, Yellow going over to comfort her. Yellow Diamond glared at me, "That's quite enough testimony from you! We shall take a short recess."

Back in the room where I  was being held, Zircon started scolding me.

"What are you saying in there?! 'Maybe' this, 'probably' that! Oh, what do you mean, probably?!"

"Look I just... I don't actually know how it happened, okay?"

"You don't know?!"

"I–"

She grabbed my shirt, scowling, "Don't tumble my rocks! Both our gems are on the line! Did you do this or not?!"

"It was me, alright?!" I shouted, and Zircon dropped me, "Rose Quartz did it, and I've got her gem, so I'm the one who's got to pay for this!"

She stared at me a little before speaking, "You don't know how it happened..." At this statement I shook my head. She placed a hand on her chin and started pacing, "I get it. There's a reason they want you to explain how you did it," she pulled up a few of her holographic panels. "Huh?" I let out. She looked at me and exclaimed, "It's because it doesn't make sense!"

I sat back in the courtroom as Zircon started speaking her case again, but with more confidence.

"Rose Quartz is flawed, I grant you. A shallow strata-gem who turned against her own kind out of a misguided attachment to a planet and creatures like these," she said as she warped Lars back in, "with members of her fellow rebellion," she said as she warped Y/n back in.

"It's indisputable that as the Diamond overseeing Earth, Pink was Rose Quartz's enemy. Rose had everything to gain by shattering her. But even though she may have wanted to shatter Pink Diamond, could she? Blue Diamond, for the purpose of this argument, may I present your palanquin?" she asked Blue Diamond. "Is this necessary?" Yellow Diamond asked. "Isn't it?" Blue responded, waving in her hand and her palanquin was warped in, "Please, proceed."

"Now, as the records show," Zircon said, walking to the steps of the palanquin, motioning to a certain spot, "Pink Diamond was shattered just outside a palanquin much like this. Witnesses say Pink had just stepped out and had only taken a few steps forward when Rose attacked her from the front!" Blue Diamond turned away, covering her mouth.

Zircon placed a hand on her chin, stepping back from the palanquin, "But the question no one seems to be asking is, 'how?'" Yellow Diamond squinted leaning forward in her seat slightly. Blue Diamond's eyes widened, then she looked back at Zircon, narrowing her eyes slightly, "I've been asking that question."

"A-a-a-and right you are to ask, My Diamond!" Zircon stammered before recomposing herself, "B-because at that time that Pink was shattered, Rose Quartz had been a recognized threat for several hundred years. There were no Rose Quartz soldiers in her entourage and none in her guard. So how did a Rose Quartz, with no business being anywhere near Pink Diamond, get so close in the first place? Where were Pink Diamond's attendants? Her Agates, Her Sapphires? And where was her Pearl?"

Blue and Yellow paused at the shock, not long before Yellow herself slammed her fist down.

"They were with her, of course, they saw the whole thing!" Yellow argued. "But none of them saw Rose Quartz approach? Wouldn't her Sapphires have seen Rose Quartz coming? Wouldn't her Agates have tried to fight her off?" Zircon pointed out.

"That is strange!" I exclaimed. I looked at Blue Diamond, who looked pleadingly at an angered Yellow Diamond.

"She must have slipped past them!" Yellow growled, fist clenching, her other hand angrily grasping the arm of her throne.

"Even if she did, wouldn't her Pearl have cried out an alarm, 'Watch out, My Diamond!' No, whoever did this was already close to Pink Diamond. Someone her guards would allow to get near her, someone she would listen to when asked to stop her palanquin and step outside, and someone with the authority to cover it up afterwards!" Zircon stated, eyeing the Diamonds out of the corner of her eye as she paced, "Someone with supreme authority..." she pondered, "Someone..." she then pointed at the Diamonds, "like one of you!"

Blue Diamond gasped loudly, then looked at Yellow Diamond, who was furious. Yellow stood up, making Zircon cower back and try to recover.

"Uh, disregard that last statement! I might have gotten carried away!" she managed to choke out, before Yellow crushed her, poofing her. The yellow Zircon smirked and raised a brow, shrugging, "Case closed, right My Diamond?" Her smirk didn't last for long as it fell once Yellow Diamond looked at her. Yellow Diamond sent a bolt of electricity towards the Zircon, who cried out before poofing.

Blue stood up and approached Yellow, "Yellow, stop it! Why are you doing this?"

While they started to argue, I ran over to Lars and popped his bubble, then ran over to y/n and popped her bubble, "this is our chance, we got to go!" I said in a hushed tone. "Where?!" Lars asked, panicked. "We don't need to listen to this nonsense!" Yellow shouted. Y/N looked around, then pointed to the palanquin, "there!" We all ran towards the palanquin, listening to the Diamonds fight.

"Let's shatter Rose Quartz and be done with it!"

"Can't you restrain yourself?!"

"But this is pointless!"

"No, it's not!"

We stood in the palanquin, and I tried to figure out how it worked. "Hurry up and drive this thing! Those giant crazy chicks aren't going to be distracted forever!" Lars said, rushing me. Y/n gently nudged me aside and pressed a button, and the palanquin started moving. All of a sudden, the palanquin jumped up, out of the building.

We began flying in the air, I opened my eyes and saw a bit of Homeworld.

"Where is this..?" Lars asked. "Homeworld," Y/n answered.

As we started falling, Yellow Diamond blasted a diamond-shaped home in the wall of the building.

"You think you can get away, Rose? You stood your ground on that little speck called Earth... But you're on our world now!"

All three of us braced for impact upon the cold Homeworld ground beneath us.
