"I have to do everything I can, Alfred." Bruce says, slipping a glove on each hand.
"Of course, master Bruce." Alfred nods.
Bruce steps forward but then Alfred catches his shoulder and pulls him back.
"But you be bloody careful, alright?" He says, "You don't get too close and if you do then you hit them as hard as you can."
"Don't worry, Alfred. I've got this."
"Right, well... just making sure, sir."
Bruce walks over to a set of double doors and pushes them open, revealing a caved area where a black car sits. As he nears the vehicle, the door closest to him opens automatically. Bruce puts one foot inside before turning around.
"Look after (Y/n)." He says, "Make sure she stays safe."
"I will, master Bruce." Alfred says.
Then Bruce slips into the car and shuts the door. The engine growls and the car kicks forward as he drives out of an opening in the room, leaving a small cloud of smoke. Alfred watches him go before stepping back and closing the double doors.
You lean back against the wall as Alfred passes you in the other hallway, but you could care less at this moment if he had seen you. What you care about is that Bruce has been keeping a secret from you and you intend to find out exactly what that secret is.
Opportunities to ask him about it were very slim until one afternoon. You and Bruce were sitting in the garden and Alfred had made himself scarce, so you figured now was the best time to get some answers out of the millionaire.
"Hey, Bruce. Do you know how to drive?" You ask, looking at some flowers further off.
You can hear Bruce shuffle in his seat.
"Well... yes. Alfred taught me." He says.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't think it necessary to say."
When you turn back to look at him his face is washed over with confusion, but there's a hint of reluctance in his eyes. Almost as if he knows where this conversation is going.
"I've just been wondering," You start, sitting further up your seat, "if perhaps you keep secrets from me?"
"W-what? No." Bruce leans over to hold his teacup in his hand.
"But if you had any secrets, you would tell me... right?"
"Of course. You know I'd tell you anything."
He takes a sip from his tea and seems to relax ever so slightly. His composure is better than how it was when you first asked him your question.
"You'd do the same for me." He nods, "You would tell me your secrets."
"Yeah." The reply comes out as a whisper.
But it's not the truth. Bruce practically knows everything about you, which shows how much you trust him, but if there was one thing you never told him it was how you feel about him.
Maybe now's the time to tell him.
"Bruce--"
Your sentence gets cut short as Alfred dashes into the garden looking visibly shaken.
"I'm so sorry to interrupt, but I'm afraid Bruce is being detained by business." He says in a rush.
Bruce immediately places his teacup down and stands from his seat.
"We should go now, master Bruce. It's quite urgent."
Bruce turns to look over at you before walking to where you sit. Slowly, you stand from your chair to look him in the eyes.
