"You really think so?"
Shawn gave him a reassuring smile and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "Yes, I do. Tell them the truth. They'll probably be so relieved you did tell them instead of ratting them out that they won't even try to vote you out."
"What about you? You don't care?"
"You know I don't. I'm going to pretend you didn't even ask me that."
"Sorry," Juice said and wiped at his eyes, again. "You'd really leave with me if I got voted out?"
"Of course I would. Juice, I am so in love with you."
Juice pulled Shawn to him then and kissed her temple. "I love you, too."
"Do you want to call someone? It might be easier to tell them if you know you have one person on your side in there. You could call Chibs, maybe?" Shawn suggested.
"Yeah. I'll do that," Juice said. Shawn leaned back and he stood to pull his phone out of his pocket. He started to walk out of the room to make his call, but stopped at the doorway and looked back at Shawn. "Thank you."
"Anytime, babe."
Juice stepped out into the living room. Shawn started working on dinner, again. She listened as she chopped vegetables. She could hear Juice's voice from the other room, but it wasn't loud enough for her to make out any words. He came back into the kitchen a moment later.
"He's going to stop over here, if that's okay," Juice said.
"Yeah, that's fine. Did you tell him or are you waiting for him to get here?"
"I will when he gets here. I just said I had to talk to him and it's important," Juice said. "Do you want to wait for him outside with me?"
"Sure," she said and picked up a piece of the pepper she was cutting and popped it into her mouth. They went out to her front porch and sat on the swing. Juice put his arm around her and she leaned against him. "You okay now?"
Juice shrugged. "I feel better than I did. Still a little freaked out, I guess."
"I'm sure you'll feel better after you tell Chibs."
"What if he's not as understanding as you think he'll be?"
"You know him better than I do. What do you think he'll say?" Shawn asked.
"Not sure," Juice admitted after thinking for a moment, "but I have a feeling like it'll be okay."
The sound of a motorcycle coming could be heard and Juice took a deep breath.
"That's good because I think he's here," Shawn said as Chibs came into view and pulled up to the front of the house. "I'll go inside and let you two talk. I love you."
"I love you," Juice said and gave her a kiss.
Shawn stood and went for the front door as Chibs was coming up the steps.
"Hey, Chibs," she greeted him and opened the front door.
"Hi, darling," he said back and then turned towards Juice. Shawn heard him speak as she was closing the door. "So, what's going on?"
Shawn finished closing the door and rested her forehead against it. For the first time in her life, she was questioning the club. She had thought it was supposed to be a brotherhood, but how could it be when one member was terrified to tell anyone who his father was? Brothers shouldn't be afraid of one another.
She pushed away from the door and went back into the kitchen to finish dinner. She was starving and figured they would be too once they were done talking. As an official old lady now, Shawn knew it was her job to take care of them. She felt anxious as she worked, hoping she had been right about Chibs not caring.
