Juice went up the stairs to find Shawn and saw Gemma coming out of a room. She closed the door and walked over to him.
"She's calming down," Gemma told him. "I got her to lay down. Hopefully, she will get some sleep. She wanted to go home, but..."
"It's too dangerous," Juice finished for her.
"Right."
"Thanks, Gem," Juice said and passed her. Gemma caught his arm to stop him.
"She said she wants to be alone."
"That doesn't include me," Juice told her and walked to the door anyways.
He opened the door and saw her laying on a bed to his left, her back facing him. She didn't move to see who walked in. She already knew it would be Juice. Shawn listened as he took off his cut, then his boots, before laying down beside her. She turned onto her other side to face him and he moved closer to hold her.
"You knew before we left Gemma's, didn't you?" Shawn asked. Her voice was emotionless.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I should have. Jax said Tig wanted to be the one and I was just trying to respect his wishes.
"It's fine. I'm not mad at you," she said. "Did Jax say how she died?"
"Yes."
Shawn waited for him to tell her. When he didn't she looked up at him. "Well?"
"Baby, we don't need to talk about this right now. Sleep on it and if you still want to know tomorrow, I'll tell you."
"It can't be any worse than the things I am thinking."
"You don't need to think about that right now."
"It's all I can think about. I can't just turn my brain off," Shawn said, her voice no longer sounding monotone. Her anger was returning.
"You can," Juice said, "if you get some sleep. Once you're rested and have had more time to process all of this, we can talk more about it. Think about what this is all doing to the baby."
Shawn sighed and buried her face into the crook of his neck. "Do you think it's okay if I cry?"
The way her voice broke brought tears to his eyes. "Of course. You can always cry."
Her body shook at first as she cried softly. Juice listened as she gave a little gasp and began to cry harder. Within seconds, tears escaped his own eyes as Shawn cried harder than he had even seen before. He held her as she cried, occasionally stroking her hair or cheek. After awhile, her sobs began to quiet down and her breathing was becoming more regular. Juice peaked down at her face and saw her eyes were closed. He hoped she was falling asleep. He moved his hand to her back and gently rubbed until he was sure she was sleeping.
Juice laid a kiss on her forehead before slowly getting out of bed to not disturb her. He covered her with a blanket from the couch on the side of the room before putting his boots and cut back on and leaving the room to go back downstairs. Chibs saw him first and stood from the stool he was sitting on. He hugged Juice and gave him a pat on the back. Juice had to wipe his eyes when they pulled away.
"How is she?" Chibs asked.
"As bad as can be expected."
"Poor thing," Chibs said.
"What the hell happened?"
"Tig got a call from an Oakland detective saying he picked up Dawn for a DUI. Claimed his brother-in-law was a Grimm Bastard and he wouldn't charge her if Tig picked her up. Tig met him down at the train yard and the cop ended up being dirty. He pulled a gun on Tig and cuffed him. Pope showed up after and lit Dawn on fire right in front of him."
