You closed your eyes and covered your ears. You didn't want to see or hear your destruction that was minutes away. You felt the robot lean as it reached forward towards the power plant. "Here we go" you muttered to yourself. You waited for impending doom. After a few seconds you felt nothing. It took you a second to realize it but the robot wasn't moving anymore. You slowly opened your eyes and uncovered your ears. You looked over to Zim, Dib and Gir. Zim was holding some sort of device in his hand. "What just happened?" You asked. "I forgot I made a remote control for the robot" Zim replied casually while scratching his head. "YOU HAD THAT THE WHOLE TIME!?" Both you and Dib shouted unanimously. "Yeah I guess I did" Zim said shrugging his shoulders. "This just shows how genius I am" he said with a triumphant look. "You have got to be kidding me. We did all of this for nothing, and the military is still ready to blast us at any moment" you said with your head in your hands. "They won't shoot. The robot has stopped now, but we should quickly and preferably quietly get off this thing before they notice us" Dib said as he headed towards the ladder. You quickly got up to follow him, you looked back, ready to make another smart comment to Zim about wasting your time but he and his robot had already disappeared. "He was quick to make an exit" you said with anger. "Yeah he doesn't like to be out long in case he is seen without his disguise" Dib replied as you both made your way down the robot. "That makes sense, but I'm also glad we are both still alive" you said with half hearted enthusiasm. You both finally reached the bottom and quickly made your exit towards the school again.

"I officially would like to say that I hope we never have to do that again" you said as you both walked towards school. The streets were still abandoned, and behind you, you could hear the military taking the robot apart piece by piece. "I agree but knowing Zim it's not likely that we will get that lucky" Dib replied. "Do you think everyone is back at the school?" You asked. "Everyone probably went home, which is exactly where I'm going after I get my schoolwork" Dib said casually. "How can you think about schoolwork after all of that?" You said with surprise. "This happens all the time. I'm honestly not phased by it anymore, I just do my best to play my part as heroic citizen" Dib said while mockingly flexing his arms. "Okay big shot" you said rolling your eyes and smiling. "I also can't wait to get home" you said. You both walked in silence as you made your way back towards the school. Passing by the car you both had previously stolen and taken for a joy ride. Despite almost dying you couldn't help but think how today's events were slightly thrilling. As if a new adventurous side of you was waking up. Previously throughout your life you would wake up, go to school, and sleep. But today had been something completely different. As if Zim's attempt to take over the world had shattered your boring life, giving birth to a new purpose, and a new you. You knew deep down that Dib was right. Zim would not stop trying to take over the world, and this revelation...excited you? You weren't sure, but you did know for a fact that you were not unhappy about it. You couldn't stop thinking about how Zim had saved your life. Why? For what reason? These questions were bugging you.

You both made it to school to see it completely empty still. You grabbed what coursework was left and you both headed home. "I'll see you tomorrow I guess?" You said to Dib as you both parted ways. "For sure" Dib replied with a smile. In all honesty you had completely forgot about your mom and sister amidst the chaos. "I hope everyone is okay" you said to yourself as you picked up the pace. You passed by the street Zim's house resides on and you couldn't help but take a peek at it. Zim's house stuck out like sore thumb next to the boring colored houses sitting on either side of it. You also couldn't help but think how cool it was that Zim lived mostly alone in his own house. "Every kid's dream is to someday have a house of their own" you thought silently to yourself. You finally made it home. You didn't even make it to the front steps before both your sister and mother came rushing out. They both wrapped you in a big hug. "I'm so glad you're okay! I was so worried about you when I heard the commotion and saw the news" your mother said wiping tears away. Your sister was also starting to get teary eyed. "I'm okay, I'm glad you guys are safe too" you said returning their hugs. "Can you believe that something like this could happen? Now I'm a nervous wreck!" Your mother said as you all headed inside. "Im so glad you guys are home safe and we're no where near that catastrophe" your mother said as she readied the table for dinner. You remained silent, not wanting them to know your previous whereabouts. You all ate dinner relatively quickly and you headed to bed. You made your way upstairs to your room and quickly changed. A breeze touched your whole body, making you turn to notice your window open. "Why do I keep leaving this open?" You asked yourself as you closed the window. "I must be losing my mind" you thought to yourself as you quickly got under the covers and settled in bed. You couldn't stop replaying today's events over in your head. You knew tonight was going to be a difficult night to fall asleep. Nonetheless in less than an hour you were sleeping soundly. Today's events had truly worn you out.
